August 31, 2019 1 Comment

Hello, dear readers. Welcome back to Finding Wonderland. The final month of summer has come and gone. Even though technically speaking we do have several more weeks of summer, the start of September always marks a kind of adieu to the season of hazy and humid days. For this blog, the end of a month means another installment of ‘Month in Review August 2019.’ Do make sure to share some of your favorite discoveries in the comments.

Ciao, September 2019. Bonjour, August 2019!

Let’s do this!!

Month in Review: July 2019

»Favorites & News from August 2019«

1: Fashion Trends | All of the autumn vibes and new (or sometimes recycled) fashion trends are hitting stores. If Target is anything to judge by, chunky (or statement) earrings are in again; and now wide leg jeans are trending. As someone who’s been in the skinny jeans phase for years now, I’m wondering how I feel about this.

2: Nail Trends | Lately I’ve been seeing the gradient nail trend (or is it called “rainbow”?) that is a different shade on each nail in the same color family. Of course, because I’m basic like that, I had to try it. It’s fun!

3: TS7: The Sounds of ‘Lover’ | Yeah, you knew the new Taylor Swift album would get a “month in review” shout-out, right? I’ve been repeat listening to this one, but since I’ve blogged about the new album (twice? Or maybe three times now), I’ll leave it at that. (You can find the posts further down this post.) What’s been your favorite new song from her?

(Blog posts that, while not necessarily the most popular, were fun to write)

1: Movie News! An Unexpected First Look at the Passionate New ‘Little Women’ | While it’s true I’m not the most impressed by this first trailer, I’m still curious, and it’s a post that I enjoyed writing.

2: ‘My Life is Murder’: Make Sure You See this Fun New Acorn Mystery | One of the best new TV series I’ve seen in a while. Anyone who likes Agatha Raisin will love this new Acorn series.

3: ‘State Fair’ Review: Girl Meets Boy in First Love Adventure | It had been years since last I watched this one. With all of the state fair talk on local news or advertisements for them on TV, I decided to give this one a re-watch.

4: Sounds of the ‘Lover’ Album: This is Taylor Swift’s New Era | Because anytime I have an excuse to publish one (or two… or three) write ups centered on Taylor Swift, I’m there for it.

5: ‘A Summer Romance’: Find Comfort in the Country Life | With When Calls the Heart’s Erin Krakow, this romance is a cutie.

⇉ THROWBACK FAVORITES | aka the section in which we take a peek at what I was writing about or posting this time last year.

1: Dead Drift – Readers will Love this New Mystery Novel | The final book in Dani’s Chesapeake Valor series and a year later, the first novel in her new series is about to release to the world.

2: The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society – Hope and Heart | I still adore this story so very much. In fact, typing this now makes me realize that I’ve yet to re-watch this film.

3: Love on Safari – A South African Adventure in the Sun | Certainly not a favorite Hallmark romance, but this one is fun even if for its unique setting!

4: Tomb Raider – An Exiting Adventure with Peril | I kind of want to re-watch this one since I’ve only seen it once, but from that one watch, I liked this one a great deal more than the originals.

5: Yes, I Do – A Fun Comedy about a Runaway Bride! | A super cute romcom I didn’t anticipate to like as well as I do.

Articles and Lists | Wrote about the August 2019 schedule on Hallmark Channel; and put together a list of 20+ historical reads you might like from the Christian and “clean” genre. What type of fiction, TV or film content would you like to see in a “round up” list? Comment below with your thoughts, or visit my “research questions” post to share ideas! Finally, I also share ALL the reasons why you must watch the new to Acorn TV series, My Life is Murder (aka A+ entertainment).

Film and TV Reviews | My one review for August consists of the oldie (but delightful!) 90s BBC series, Berkeley Square (why did this only get one season?? We need a re-make).

TV Recaps | None!

As always, thanks to the editors of Silver Petticoat and my fellow contributors! Working with you all is always fun.

Great month in review! Looks like you’ve been super busy with blogging and vlogging! Seeing your mention about Guernsey reminds me that I’ve yet to watch the movie, although I really enjoyed the book. Have you read it too? Does it do the book justice? Lol
