NEW CHRISTMAS 2021 ROMANCE AND COMEDY COMING TO NETFLIX

by

Netflix has a lineup of Christmas movies this year, and I have to be honest, none sound good or interesting to me. As someone who did love The Princess Switch (yes, I’m totally fine admitting this), I will watch its additional sequel, however, the rest… I’m very scrooge-like in my feelings toward them. Still as I try to feature most of the places airing seasonal movies, let’s have a look at the Netflix 2021 Christmas schedule.

LIST | 14 SPOOKY (BUT NOT REALLY) ALL HALLOWS EVE MOVIES TO WATCH

Below I’m going to share just a few of the 11 titles coming that are counted as the Christmas movies this year. Most I’m leaving off because I care about them even less than the ones I’m featuring. However, I’d love to know if you’re interested in any of these… let me know in the comments.

NETFLIX 2021 CHRISTMAS SCHEDULE (IN PART)

Schedule note: I’ll try and keep track if any additional titles crop up as each month’s new list of releases are confirmed.

1: LOVE HARD – NOVEMBER 5

I love a cute rom-com, but despite my high expectations for this Nina Dobrev comedy, the more I read about it, the less I’m interested. As I’ve chatted with someone in my Instagram DMs, we’re READY for the return of 90s rom-coms. By this I mean, the heartwarming feels they evoked. Where you at old-school rom-coms?

2: FATHER CHRISTMAS IS BACK – NOVEMBER 7

This one seems like it could either be really cute or really bad. It follows four sisters whose father returns to their family mansion. (PG-13)

3: THE PRINCESS SWITCH 3: ROMANCING THE STAR – NOVEMBER 18

This one follows another swap situation with Vanessa Hudgens again taking on three different roles, which I’ll admit seems a little too much. But still, as I loved the first movie, I’ll eventually watch movies two and three!

4: A CASTLE FOR CHRSITMAS – NOVEMBER 26

Brooke Shields stars in this romantic-comedy with Cary Elwes in a story about, well, presumably a castle! It follows an American author who, after travelling to Scotland, finds herself wanting to buy property there.

5: A CALIFORNIA CHRISTMAS: CITY LIGHTS – DECEMBER 16

The second in the ‘California’ movies, these aren’t my most favorite, but I appreciate their wholesome storytelling and think its fun that the leads are not only a real-life love story, but also that its leading lady is the writer.

ALSO COMING TO NETFLIX

These Christmas themed movies are also heading to Netflix, but aren’t Netflix originals.

  • 1: MY DAD’S CHRISTMAS DATE – NOVEMBER 1
  • 2: ALL I WANT FOR CHRSITMAS IS YOU – NOVEMBER 14 (animated)
  • 3: SNOUBOUND FOR CHRISTMAS – NOVEMBER 15

I’ll update this list, and add on more as Netflix adds more to its December 2021 new title lineups.

What about you! Are you curious about any of these? Am I wrong to be uninterested in this lineup? Which ones do you plan to watch? Comment all of your comments below – and let me know your Netflix 2021 Christmas schedule thoughts!

  1. I appreciate that there are more Christmas movie offerings available. But it would be nice if they were more appealing. I feel like these just don’t capture the warmth of the Christmas spirit and other things that make the season special, like family.

    1. YES! Well said, Brittaney. I am just not feeling the Netflix movies this year. *shrugs* Could very well be me, but it’s still honest. :) Nothing really draws me in and while I was initially curious about Nina’s (she does comedy pretty well), the more I read about it, the less curious I became. Time will tell… have you seen any Christmas movies yet?

  2. I actually disappointed that most of Netflix’s Christmas offerings are sequels. The Princess Switch 2 seemed like overkill (I didn’t watch, but I’ve heard not so great things). I’m not sure why they thought a third movie in this series was a good idea. Oy.

I’m just hoping for fun, sweet Christmas movies this season.

    1. I haven’t seen the Princess Switch sequel yet, but I’ll probably watch it. I did love the first movie (it’s just fun). I’m thinking I’ll find most of my favorite with Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. They seem to be upping the game in the last two or so years, and I’m hopeful they will again this year. Have you seen any yet, Chanel?

  3. Ooohhh! I LOVE Christmas movies! Thanks for these suggestions, Rissi! I will definitely be checking these out! :)
