‘THE WOMAN IN CABIN 10’: SEE ENGAGING NETFLIX MYSTERY
The latest thriller-esque original from Netflix, The Woman in Cabin 10 is, like many peer titles, intriguing.
The Woman in Cabin 10 (2025) Film Review
Travel is something that Laura Blacklock (Kiera Knightly) has done a great deal of in her successful career as a journalist. Walking back into her office, she returns a little shattered after a professional tragedy. Needing a break, her latest assignment sends her to a luxury yacht where a varied group of guests are on board. Not long into her assignment, late one night Laura sees a passenger go overboard. Or did she?
It would seem every passenger and crew member is present and accounted for which leaves everyone wary of her story.
This means she’s in the middle of the ocean, surrounded by a group of mysterious passengers, but are they the real threat… or is it something else?

Inspired by a novel by Ruth Ware, the author is one I recognize but isn’t an author I have read anything by let alone this titular novel. Therefore, I judge this as a cinematic story rather than adaptation, and as such, well, it’s pretty dang good. One thing The Woman in Cabin 10 isn’t in the truth seeking is happy, but I think that’s relatively normal given the genre. Despite this, the movie does give us a smile in the end, and this is nice. Apart from Kiera Knightley, this film does have a very impressive cast. Many of whom I don’t recognize, but the additional names I do include Guy Pearce; Hannah Waddingham; David Morrissey; Kaya Scodelario; and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.
The movie doesn’t run too long which breaks a bit from the common genre norm. Still, it keeps a good clip, and I do like the mysterious goings on of this gorgeous and opulent yacht world. Some of the dramatic things that happen don’t seem to get much attention, but then, maybe this is also a good thing? Kiera is great in the role and there are some intriguing things that help to push the story forward. I don’t think this will be a mystery to change the genre, but it does intrigue if you like a light thriller now and then.

Content: there are several uses of the F-word. We see a woman’s bare back lying in bed with someone. We see flashbacks of a woman dying (drowning) and someone else is threatened a time of two; once by a person attempting to drown her. A man and woman are physically harmed and choked. A gun shoot someone. The film does have an R-rating but for a thriller with this rating the movie is more PG-13 outside of the F-word uses.

I saw this as one of the new movies on Netflix, and was curious about it. I enjoy a good mystery that’s not filled with a bunch of language and trashy scenes. Thanks for the review, Rissi! I’m going to check it out.
I hope you enjoy, Alison! It does have some profanity, but it’s mild for an R-rated flick so that surprised me.:)
