Review Policy, Press and Requests
On this page, you will find information about our review policy, press or requests. Started in 2011, our site has had many different faces and is currently growing, albeit slowly. What hasn’t changed is the things we discuss or programs we enjoy and review. Way back then we loved British and period drama and still do. Today we review period dramas and romance (both contemporary and historical), create character and film lists, have a great love of programs from the likes of Acorn TV or Masterpiece (PBS) plus we also cover content from places like Hallmark and Netflix.
If you’d like to read through the reviews already posted to this blog, which includes the above mentioned content plus more like books and streaming lists, too, you’ll discover what types of content we cover. Learn more about the type of things I enjoy from our about page.
Learning about new programs to cover them in a list, film or TV romance feature or review is something I enjoy the chance to spotlight. If you’d like to include us on press release emails or contact us with any interesting press information about a program to consider in a feature or to review a new title that fits in with our normal content, we’d be happy to hear from you. I’d be excited to take a closer look at news about films or programs that fit this site’s content.
Please note, I may not feature or review a title without saying why if it doesn’t fit our themes or content or isn’t something my audience is interested in.
What I Review and Feature:
Current and past films like The Fall Guy, Girl Haunts Boy or Mrs. Winterbourne, and Hallmark films, all of which earn reviews or list mentions
Period drama titles like The Buccaneers and My Lady Jane
TV show titles like Nobody Wants This
All of these we review fairly (though personal enjoyment does, of course factor in) by sharing things we enjoyed or if we enjoyed them even if the film or TV show reaction is more negative than positive. Some titles are all about positive and glowing. Others are more dispositive.
Book Reviews
while not quite as frequent as I once did, we do review fictional books off and on. genres I review include:
Inspirational; Christian Fiction
Mystery; not the creepy kind!
Secular Fiction; Contemporary, usually with a PG-13 rating
I don’t read fantasy, sci-fi or graphic fiction, no matter the genre
- The ratings: Books here receive a “scale” rating from 1 (being the lowest) up to 5
- The review: In a review, though I cannot promise that it will be all positive, what I can say for certainty is the review will be an honest assessment of what I thought. I share if the book made me think or contemplating any deeper messages, what the characters are like (if I relate to any), the details (historical settings or descriptive costuming), the story itself as well as any other quirks that may have been impacting or amusing. Also included are the books “stats” like author name, publisher and genre. I write my own synopsis (which is because of SEO complications and I share more about this here). The review will also be posted to Amazon and Goodreads plus shared on Twitter and Pinterest.
- ARCs: If you are interested in sending me an ARC (print copy) to review, I would also be happy to read and review it. Also, if you have a specific date during which you’d like the book reviewed/promoted, please let me know. (I won’t sell the ARC, however I may send the books to someone else or pass it along.)
In compliance with the FTC, all of the books I receive and review are complimentary copies from the author, publisher or publicists. If they are books I’ve purchased, I note this in the review.
