When it comes to fashion, I have fun browsing the shelves of favorite new stores. Most of the time given today’s fashion agenda, I pass on new arrivals. But once in a while you do run across something that’s cute. If you’re into theme fashion or have plans on February 14th, today we look to see what we can find that fits the Valentine’s Day fashion idea mold. Whether we’ll find anything worth a feature is an entirely different thing but we’re going to try.

I’m also working hard to steer further away from overt trends. Partly because there’s few that look like they’d work and could have a longer fashion reign and partly because I don’t think I’m in the age gap where “trends” work. Especially those they’re showing. Despite all of this, we can look to see what there is on store shelves and pull a kind of “mood” board (are those even a thing anymore?) with ideas. Some of which perhaps you’d have already in your closet!
VALENTINE’S DAY FASHION IDEAS
COZY AND CUTE
If you’re doing nothing beyond some normal errands or working from home with maybe a fun casual at home gathering, but you still want to “dress” for the day, these are some cute options!
Love Olive Co. has three cute and simple sweatshirts to pair with your favorite, worn in pair of blue jeans! There’s the XOXO ‘Cranberry Heather’ option(1); a fun neon pink Love version(2); or this cute Cupid’s Love Lodge(3) in a gray ash. If you want another option, that’s less “cutesy,” there’s this corner “XOXO” sweatshirt(4) in what looks to be a pretty pink. If you want to elevate it you could style it with jean shorts (as the model has) or your favorite jeans, or if you’re into the oversized look, go all in cozy and pair it with your favorite leggings. A red tunic sweater with leggings(5) could be fun too. Also, how cute are these platform Puma casual sneaker in pink(6) (with lots of positive reviews!)
If you have no other plans or you don’t mind being in loungewear for game night or night in, Target is the place for cute sets. They have the same short set in a fun heart(7) or kisses pattern(8). Or there’s a pant set that’s less Valentine’s Day and more pretty in pink cute(9).
DRESSING UP
If you’re someone who’s going out for a fancier dinner or event, there are some cute options to consider!
Amazon fashion is always a risk. Sometimes you get something that’s great and other times it’s trash. I haven’t ordered from them in a long time but this is the general consensus from buyers. This red number(10) seems a popular pick with shoppers. It’s a shorter length with a flutter sleeve so if that’s not your vibe perhaps this puff sleeve pink blouse(11) is. Pair it with some black dress pants and a heel or depending on the pant (dress vs a skinny jean), you could go with a sneaker too. Another option is this bow tie blouse(12). This sheer sleeve blouse is really pretty too and comes in a delicate pink(13).
Other dress options includes a cutout back fit and flare, and is a dusty red color variation(14). Also dressy is a jumpsuit like this ruffle sleeve version in red(15) or the always classic black(16). Then you can accessorize with a pink(17) or red heel(18) and other classic gold jewelry or funky heart earrings! Earring options out there include this bow tie version(19) or seed beaded style(20).

If you aren’t into the ruffles and want something simpler but still cute and dressy, how can you not like these cute pink trouser pants(21)? There’s also these “black satin” ankle pants(22). To be honest, they don’t look fabulous (quality), but they have good ratings plus they also have a red and pink option. Finally there’s this high rise black dress pant that looks to have a really wide leg(23).
If you want an all black look, you could pair this sheer sleeve black blouse (the details look pretty!)(24) with black ankle pants. Add accessories like a pink or red heel and some fun heart earrings, too.
FUN AND FEMININE
Maybe you’re going out for the day but need the look to be functional for work and a casual dinner.
This adorable heart sweater from Love Olive Co. is all kinds of cute(25)! I almost ordered it but I’m not sure I’d have any fun place to wear it; plus I’m trying to be better about the clothes I buy. If you don’t like hearts and think that’s too “on the nose,” the shop also has this cute “wave” pattern sweater(26) as part of their valentine collection. Additionally there’s a delicate heart cardigan in a cream color(27) which they pair with a silky skirt. If you live somewhere warmer and you want something elevated, but still casual, this hot pink tiered dress(28) is girly.
From a past guide, Amazon still has this checkered sweater vest in a pretty in pink(29) or red option. If you’re into the look, these tunic sweaters(30), which I include in the ‘Cozy’ section, are HAVING a MOMENT! Everyone is promoting the style and I think they’re a dupe for a more expensive brand. Go edgy with this look by pairing the tunic with a pair of faux leather leggings(31). This sweater has zero ratings but if you don’t want full on pink or red, a periwinkle cardigan with hearts(32) looks like it could be a fun alternative. Finally, this oversized, pink checkered style(33) sweater is something I’d wear.
Plus… just for fun don’t forget some final accessorizing! There’s a braided style(34); this seed bead heart shape(35) or these multicolor dangle style(36). Or again, these fun pink platform Puma casual sneakers.
