‘TEN RULES FOR FAKING IT’: A ROMANTIC COMEDY ABOUT TRYING NEW THINGS
STORY: Working as a producer on a radio program is a fine career for Everly Dean. However, it soon becomes a problem when her entire life is, quite by accident, made public. Birthdays aren’t really Everly’s thing but this year ranks badly. You see she’s thirty, quite single and she just found her boyfriend in a, shall we say very compromising position with someone who is not Everly. This is all a part of the rant Everly gives to her best friend and radio personality Stacey, little knowing that Stacey was going to surprise her with a birthday shout-out and all of that was just aired. ten rules for faking it

TEN RULES FOR FAKING IT book review
REVIEW: The first novel I’ve read by Sophie Sullivan and her debut novel (as Sullivan), as a romance novel aficionado, this probably isn’t my favorite novel. Still it’s a nice, easy going novel that though it reads a tiny bit long for the genre, is still something that keeps us flipping the pages.
BOOK REVIEW | ‘THINGS YOU SAVE IN A FIRE’: A UNIQUE STORY ABOUT STRONG HEROINE
The book is also something that will be easy to relate to given its target audience. From the pop culture references to the heroine’s struggles with confidence, it may be a story, even with its lighthearted elements that will hit some of us hard with just how easily we do relate. I like Everly and Chris, and Stacy (her only some of the time), but I also find some of their interactions (namely the thoughts inside their head depending on who’s perspective we’re in) to be somewhat “off” in moments.
The whole “triangle” of fighting and love in the final few chapters wears thin, but it’s also a normal addition to romance fiction. Ten Rules for Faking It is cute enough that I’ll give another by Sullivan a chance, and in fact I own others by her, so picking another up will hopefully be in my immediate future. Some of her future novels also include supporting characters from this.

Content: Not a lot. There is some sexual innuendo, including the stereotype bestie who sleeps around with low commitment plans and a gift that is mentioned throughout that is for pleasuring oneself. Running through is a condom gag (not graphic) and comments about how physically fit or hot someone is. There is reference to sex or heavy making out. One scene has a couple in bed together (again, not descriptive or graphic, one person is sleeping). The book would be a PG-13 rating.
