‘THE PERFECT SETTING’ IS RARE SPARKLING HALLMARK ROMANCE
Part of their first campaign of this year, The Perfect Setting pairs up two stars together for the first time. The story is one with many facets that is pretty to look at, too.
The Perfect Setting (2025) Hallmark TV Film Review
Working at a jewelry store is paying the bills for Abby (Laci J Mailey) but making repairs isn’t feeding her passion. Hoping to change her future, she makes plans to visit her grandfather who lives in Belgium and owns a store. While there, she impulsively decides to enter a contest that could change everything. You see, she’s designer with aspirations to become a jewelry maker, so the annual Diamond Contest seems a good fit.
Her greatest competition is from Alexander (David Elsendoorn), a local whose family has won this contest many times. What Abby perhaps doesn’t expect is Alexander being willing to help her in exchange for her creative insight, something that challenges her plans for the future.

It’s not just fun to see Laci in another new rom-com, but it’s also nice to see David in something else here. I liked him in the Christmas flick My Norwegian Holiday. Laci also appeared in Hallmark’s Betty’s Bad Luck in Love, which was a favorite of mine, so watching this is something I was anticipating. Not just because of that, but also because like these actors in their other individual roles.
The Perfect Setting has a very romantic effect. It’s got lovely settings, and of course, the jewelry element, too, which is neat. That part is unique and not something that is often in films. Or not that I see often. The end gets a little dramatic, yes, but that’s normal so at this point, I kind of expect it. However, it also isn’t the same drama. Plus, I think the way this ends is actually wise. One thing is clear, this is a sparkling addition to close out the first campaign of 2025 titles.
