‘SHERLOCK AND DAUGHTER’ CW REVIEW: THE FAMOUS DETECTIVE LORE IS NEW AGAIN
Getting into the detective lore that is Sherlock Holmes, the CW Network gives life to Sherlock and Daughter. A new spin on the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle detective that has possibilities, mostly one that is about being an entertaining TV show.
Sherlock and Daughter (2025), Season One TV Show Review
Cases continue to appear on the doorstop of Sherlock Holmes (David Thewlis). His life is different now, but still, given his renowned career, he faces sinister shadows from his past in some cases. On his doorstep appears Amelia Rojas (Blu Hunt), a spunky American who is seeking the person responsible for the murder of her mother.

‘SHERLOCK AND DAUGHTER’ CW TV REVIEW: THE FAMOUS DETECTIVE LORE IS NEW AGAIN. #SherlockandDaughter #Mysteries #CWTV #SherlockHolmes #Sherlock Share on XThis is one of those shows to appear on CW that we can, yet again, claim as nothing but pure entertainment. It’s good and fun to watch and has cool characters we enjoy. The mystery is here, both in the connection the characters will have (though the title seems to take some of that speculation away, but does it?) and the cases too.
TV MINISERIES REVIEW | ‘TOWARDS ZERO’: BRITBOX ADAPTS AN AGATHA CHRISTIE STORY IN THIS EXCITING NEW VERSION!
Sherlock and Daughter is one of those shows that would fall into the period drama category, but rather than historical accuracy, I think it’s a show that has undue modern influence. Still, if you like mysteries that are set in the past, this one is a good time. Thewlis isn’t my favorite first blush Holmes, but I know he is an award nominee, and so I’m willing to see how he plays this iconic role. He may also be true to the character based on the novels, but again, I’ve not read them so yeah he may fit the role nicely. I also have to keep in mind, that this phase of his life is different than most I’ve seen.
Where the characters will go or how this story will unfold, including what Sherlock and Amelia will mean to each other (like is the title emotional or literal), remains to be seen. But though it doesn’t fit with the lore, I do find this concept interesting. To see Sherlock challenged by relationships we don’t normally see him being a part of. How writers will play this out, I’m not sure. Time will tell. Regardless of if this has a plan to unfold well or badly, either way, it’s highly entertaining and a really good time that is difficult not to enjoy.
