‘THE OTHER BENNET SISTER’: BRITBOX TELLS NEW AUSTEN ROMANCE
Adapted from the novel with the same title, and a series highly anticipated, The Other Bennet Sister, like its title, introduces us to the one sister no one really knows.
The Other Bennet Sister (2026) BritBox TV Series Review
Pretty and loved by her parents are not two qualities Mary Bennet (Ella Bruccoleri) believes herself to possess. She doesn’t have the pampered attentions of her mother who reserves these for her elder and beautiful sister Jane (Maddie Close). And though she would like to, she doesn’t catch the loving eye of her father in the way her sassy and opinionated sister Elizabeth (Poppy Gilbert) does. No, Mary, the middle sister of five, is not favored. Jane and Lizzy are the best of friends while Kitty is under the giggling and boy crazy influence of Lydia.
All Mary has had is books, and so she throws herself into reading and learning, believing knowledge to be her only companion. Then something changes and Mary finds herself capturing the eye of not one but two potential suitors which may forever alter the future she planned to step into.

An original for BritBox (which is really a lovely streamer, but this is a topic for another day), The Other Bennet Sister is one poised to become a new favorite for period drama aficionados. It’s also a show that, based on my limited social media exposure (because I know there is so much I don’t see), viewers gushed over. And while I understand the excitement and enjoyment of this series, I don’t think it’s any better than any of our other favorite period dramas. Something I say with zero shade, but rather a realistic opinion. Did I thoroughly enjoy the start of this series? 100%. It’s a charming new production sure to make us fall in love again with these characters.
TV SERIES REVIEW | ‘THE FORSYTES’: THE NEW PBS MASTERPIECE ROMANCE
This little series, though first impressions may imply otherwise, is as lively as any Austen production you’ll watch. The cast is a fabulous group of people who are equal parts biz vets and newcomers, which we all know is something I love. The production is stunning and for the most part, while employing some changes, this seems to be a title that serves its source material well.
Based off what I have seen of this 10-episode series, The Other Bennet Sister is charming, sweet and has a character that finds growth which comes at the cost of emotional pain. There is hope for her through, and something we will hopefully see be for the better. So, in other words, if you enjoy period drama, consider watching this. The production quality is brilliant and of course, there is the usual Jane Austen flair we expect, and need.

Content: this one has a bit of sensuality. It has a montage (not in the least graphic) that is used to tell the how of her sister’s birth (her parents engaging in sex). This is all very cheeky and not worth a mention. Based off the first episodes, this would be a TV-PG rating.

The Other Bennet Sister sounds delightful! I wish I had Britbox! Our library provides access to Hoopla, which does give us a binge pass to watch some Britbox shows. Hopefully it will become available!!
