Romantic TV Scene Feature. When Calls the Heart: The Wedding

A few weeks ago – March 17th, something magical happened for the fans of Hallmark Channel’s When Calls the Heart. The show’s primary love birds, Jack Thornton and Elizabeth Thatcher said “I do” in an emotional and joyful wedding ceremony.
Last Sunday night – April 15th, something tragic happened on Hallmark Channel’s When Calls the Heart.
Elizabeth Thornton receives devastating news about her brave Canadian Mountie husband, Jack Thornton.
Perhaps the more devastating blow of this moment is the cliffhanger that shows a broken Elizabeth crumple to the ground, screaming.
Before I say anything else, I’ll tell you, I’ve not watched this fifth season yet. This is for a few reasons, though perhaps I had an inkling watching this latest season wasn’t right for me right now. What I have seen (the wedding, and final moments of last week’s episode) has been good. I just haven’t had the interest to actually watch the show.

Enough about the bittersweet possibilities, instead today’s post is meant to highlight a very happy moment. The marriage of Jack Thornton and Elizabeth Thatcher. The week of this episode, I had the chance to write a feature piece on the wedding over on Silver Petticoat. Today, I’m sharing a snippet here of said moment.
Because I do understand this couple (I’ve seen seasons one through four), and all they’ve been through, watching this scene by itself still has an effect. Everyone involved made the scene special and beautiful. There is joy, emotional weight and a sense of genuine feelings from all involved. Whether it’s the script or the performances*, everything is beautiful.

*a closing thought… I have to say, Erin Krakow’s performance this season (even the little I’ve seen) is phenomenal. Her final scene of ‘In My Dreams’ (April 15th) is heart wrenching, and is exactly what this sort of moment should express.

It's always sad for a fangirl's heart when a character leaves, but I have more understanding for the change when it's the actor's choice. :)
