‘NOBODY WANTS THIS’: SIZZLING BANTER STARTS UNUSUAL LOVE AFFAIR
Considered a kind of romantic comedy miniseries (or series with potential for more?), Nobody Wants This is the current Netflix “it” watch.
Nobody Wants This (2024) Netflix TV Series
Bad choices are something Joanne (Kristen Bell) makes often. She has bad habits including walking out on dates on a whim and obsesses over things. One party invitation later, where the host happens to be Joanne’s manager, and she has a chance encounter with Noah (Adam Brody). Witty and cute and kind, Noah is someone Joanne loves sparring with. So much so, she flirts shamelessly with him. Then she learns who he is.
A rabi with family who are all champions of Noah’s ex, Rebecca, Noah too likes Joanne. So much so he’s nervous but glad to see her in the span of as many hours when she appears at his temple. Thing is, nobody really wants this… and it’s this that causes even the very interested couple to wonder if they do.
NETFLIX REVIEW | ‘A FAMILY AFFAIR’ IS HAPPY AND HILARIOUS NETFLIX COMEDY
‘NOBODY WANTS THIS’: SIZZLING BANTER STARTS UNUSUAL LOVE AFFAIR. #KristenBell stars in this #romcom #Netlix miniseries. #Romance #AdamBrody Share on XNetflix is doing something interesting. They’re producing or acquiring quite a lot of content covering a wide variety of genres and subjects. As someone who tries to watch different genres outside my usual “feel good” favorites, I admire this. Nobody Wants This is one of these productions and seems to fall under the romantic comedy umbrella.
With fan favorite early 2000s TV stars leading the cast, this series has a lot to recommend it if you like the genre though also it’s script is very adult which will disappoint any viewers who prefer more wholesome rom-com stories. If you aren’t bothered by any of this, well then, this is an interesting and (mostly) good time.
Kristen Bell and Adam Brody are actually good in this. It’s not that they haven’t been so in prior roles rather I mean as a pair of would-be lovers, they’re interesting and have a solid connection. There’s some really good moments between them. While I normally like a couple to actually be together rather than dance around being together, I think this show could have done a dance really well because of their performances. Instead they put them together in more than just a holding-hands-and-dating kind of way.
Some of the pitfalls this series falls into is the obsession with Rebecca (not from who you think) and some pointed barbs at cultural things, but these are flaws I experience in nearly any film or TV series and most of the time, they don’t hinder the entertainment value. Nobody Wants This is worth binging so long as you don’t mind the tone of the script.
