POP CULTURE NEWS 164
Though it’s not a place she’s unfamiliar with, producer and actress Sydney Sweeney made headlines again this week. This time for a single answer she had in part of a larger interview with Vanity Fair. The question was about a time when, earlier this year, a “producer called your looks and talent into question.” The interviewer also makes mention of the fact that “Anne Hathaway and Jennifer Lawrence have discussed the tendency to knock women performers down when they’re at their professional peak. Why do you think that is?” In part, Sweeney’s answer reads “It’s very disheartening to see women tear other women down, especially when women who are successful in other avenues of their industry see younger talent working really hard—hoping to achieve whatever dreams that they may have—and then trying to bash and discredit any work that they’ve done. This entire industry, all people say is “Women empowering other women.” None of it’s happening. All of it is fake and a front for all the other shit that they say behind everyone’s back.” I probably have a tendency to believe this is true, though I have no basis for this other than cultural observations.
After the rumors from earlier this year, news broke this week that Amazon will be closing its ad-supported free streamer Freevee. According to reports, some of the Freevee content like Judy Justice, Leverage: Redemption and Bosch: Legacy already made the move to Prime Video. More of its content is also to move to Prime Video as well.

Bridget Jones and the Boy dropped a trailer this last week.
People made headlines this week by naming John Krasinski their Sexiest Man Alive. Krasinski is of course best known (in a kind of breakout role) for The Office, Krasinski has gone on to star, direct and produce several other titles including A Quiet Place in which he shares the screen with wife Emily Blunt.

If you love period drama, yesterday, November 14th was the U.K. anniversary of the release of BBC’s North and South. The drama released twenty years ago and is still, to this day, making an impact on viewers. It’s also a drama that we’ll have to celebrate when it marks its twentieth U.S. debut year!
This past week, a trailer made its debut for the upcoming Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning. I didn’t watch it, but I’m sure there’s emotion.
