✨POP CULTURE NEWS ONE HUNDRED and EIGHTEEN: THE NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS WEEK✨ Recapping the one (!) story from the week + two I missed from last week. #PopCulture #News #Hallmark #Ride #AmazonPrime Share on XFriday is our week to recap the stories we do find so despite the season and the lack of said stories, let’s see if we can find a few to talk about, shall we?
POP CULTURE NEWS ONE HUNDRED and EIGHTEEN
You’ll be seeing some changes to Prime in the coming year. Prime announced an ad supported shift where they, like (nearly) every other streamer, will offer a subscription with ads. The change will take effect January 29th. This will not apply to rented or bought content. In part, Amazon says about this change: “movies and TV shows will include limited advertisements. This will allow us to continue investing in compelling content and keep increasing that investment over a long period of time. We aim to have meaningfully fewer ads than linear TV and other streaming TV providers. No action is required from you, and there is no change to the current price of your Prime membership.” They continue one to say, “We will also offer a new ad-free option for an additional $2.99 per month. Prime Video customers have the option to pre-register for the monthly ad-free option, but won’t be billed until January 29.”
In the section where I admit neglect about a story from last week, if you like Hallmark’s one season show, Ride, it’s coming to CW as repeats. The network will re-air the first season, but there’s been no announcement that they will pick up the show for a second. Still, if it does well, who knows! Perhaps fans of the show will find some conclusion is to be had for this generational family ranch.
Additionally, I forgot to give You’ve Got Mail a shout-out last week. In this barely-there news week, it seems good that we forgot to give it its due. The favorite film turned twenty-five years old on December 18th. Naturally, we also celebrated it with a little quiz.
It’s now your turn! Which of the stories that we mention were you curious about? Had you seen them before now? Which ones didn’t we mention that you read about? Comment all of your thoughts below in the comment section.
