‘THE CHRISTMAS QUEST’ IS A NEW ADVENTURE WITH LIKABLE STARS
Mixing Christmas, adventure and two consistently favorite stars, The Christmas Quest is a really good time.
The Christmas Quest (2024) Hallmark TV Film Review
Growing up surrounded by legends and myths as well as firsthand stories of great treasure from a travelling archeologist mother, Dr. Stefanie Baxter (Lacey Chabert) grew up to become a well respected archeologist. When she is offered a chance to seek out a legendary Yule treasure that would complete the hunt her mother was unable to, she decides to jump all in and take a chance.
What or rather who, she doesn’t expect to bring along is Chase (Kristoffer Polaha), the ex she still has unresolved emotions about. Thing is, he’s an expert in languages and well, she needs him.

This, like some of the other titles you’ll find on the lineup, is another entertaining film. The Christmas Quest forgoes the usual loathe to love love story, which I’ll confess I expected, but of course this doesn’t stop the script from dealing in disagreements, fights and serious emotion. Still, the leads have genre expereince and they play the roles very well. The film, like any in the TV movie genre, is a bit “messy” sometimes in the dialogue or ADR. Still, the pros of this title outweigh these awkward production elements.
Ideal for anyone who has likes The Librarians saga, National Treasure or even the short-lived Blood and Treasure TV show, The Christmas Quest is so much fun. The adventure is just enough to keep us curious while still playing heavily into the Christmas themes. Though I’d be lying if I said what I love best is the departure from the norm like cookie baking or over exaggerated decor. This comes with some overexaggerated danger though. There’s plenty of icy scenery and even a dance, too (with the usual first look moment), just don’t expect the villainy to be heavy since this is a Hallmark movie, plus we also have to remember, all of this is set at Christmas time. This means there is still a sense of cheerfulness.
Stream, at publication, The Christmas Quest on Peacock (note, the new films usually don’t stay long on Peacock)
