JANE AUSTEN INSPIRED GIVEAWAY TO SHOWCASE 20 YEARS OF ‘PRIDE AND PREJUDICE’
It’s been talked about a great deal online and we’ve chattered about it here but today is finally THE day of celebrating the 20 years later anniversary of the 2005 feature Pride and Prejudice. Most people have already celebrated this one including its limited theater run (from early this year), but since we like to remember its anniversary, let’s remember the iconic film we once loved so well. We do this not just with our traditional anniversary movie list, but this little Jane Austen giveaway, too.

The film tells the iconic story of sisters Lizzy, Jane and their three younger sisters (yes, it’s a family of five girls, which was bad luck in the 1800s!) as they find love in places they don’t expect. Read on below to see what you can win in this, the next Jane Austen inspired giveaway.

*NOTE: the Goodreads listing image of this novel, which is the Dover Bookshelf edition, shows a different image / composition inside the ampersand that what I bought / will send. (The image is “cut off” too because it’s inside the symbol.) The edition I have, which is still the Dover Bookshelf, and still has the same look (ampersand) is an illustration from 2005’s adaptation showing Elizabeth and Darcy at the ball. The coloring will be similar though.

Pride & Prejudice is one of my favorite books by Jane Austen. I wonder what she would have thought to have the different variations of this novel on film today. She was a talented writer.
I sometimes wonder this too Stephanie. Many people posit theories that these classic authors would respect or like some of the variations of their works, but the truth is, we don’t know. I feel like many adaptations of classic fiction have strayed so far from their original story. I like unique, but still want a story to honor the author’s words. :)

I absolutely love pride and prejudice! It is so near and dear to my heart! It came out the same year I was born and my sisters and I watch it together every single year without fail! Every single time I watch it I catch a new detail! I am currently reading Longbourn by Jo Baker and so far it has been so interesting to hear a different perspective of this story.
