BOOKS THAT TAKE PLACE IN A SNOWY SETTING

I have zero reluctance or shame in admitting that I no longer like snow. Sure, as a kid I am sure I enjoyed making a snowman or maybe would sometimes watch the snow fall and think it quite pretty. Of course, it still is but seeing it in a movie is about as close to the stuff as I like to get. Unfortunately I live with snow in a dark and cold winter climate. Fortunately for me we don’t get a ton of snow, or we haven’t in the more recent years. Regardless of this deep-seated feeling, I can still talk about things like books set in snowy places and can have some fun while doing so!

Below are a few of the titles from my shelf that have cover art suggesting (in no uncertain terms!) that there is indeed snow inside these pages.

BOOKS SET in SNOWY PLACES

HOLIDAY COUNTDOWN, HOLLY CASSIDY

I haven’t read this one but did read Holly’s other book. Given I don’t know about this one (like where it’s set), I will say that I feel pretty confident about adding it given its cover art would imply snowfall. It’s also about a heroine named Callie who just wants to “hibernate” (which we often pair with cold) in the aftermath of ending a relationship with a sweetheart. Goodreads

WINTER’S SECRET, LYN COTE

One of the way back in the day reads of mine this was the first of a Heart Quest trilogy that falls into the contemporary (and probably some romance, too) suspense genre. Goodreads

THE LONG WALK, JILL COX

This one is lovely and it was (or is it still?) one of those really cozy looking covers on my shelf! Goodreads

IN HARM’S WAY and THIN ICE, IRENE HANNON

I’ve read one of these years ago (cannot remember if I read the other or not), but don’t ask me to remember if the setting is snowy. However, they both boast a snow and ice situation on the cover art, so I’m guessing they have a winter setting. Both are romantic suspense titles! ‘Way’ on Goodreads | ‘Ice’ on Goodreads

BOOKS THAT TAKE PLACE IN A SNOWY SETTING. Featuring a few of the books that take place in a snowy setting! How many have you read?

MEDDLING with MISTLETOE, LIZ JOHNSON

I did actually read this one and look at all of that snow?? It’s about a woman who, after agreeing to help matchmake a perfect on paper couple, end up falling for the guy. Goodreads

THE HOLDIDAY SWAP, MAGGIE KNOX

Part of this one has to have some snow, which is a story that follows two people swapping places during the season! Goodreads

THE HOLIDAY HONEYMOON SWITCH, JULIA MCKAY

I’ve had this one for a while on my shelf and it sure looks like it would be a fun read! It’s about “bury-the-body” best friends who end up swapping places when one of them has a non-refundable honeymoon (that is waiting even in the aftermath of cancelled ‘I dos’). Like I said, sounds like it would be a fun read; part of the novel is set in the sun, there also seems to be a part that has snow, too! Goodreads

SHATTERED, DANI PETTREY

I have always liked Dani’s novels and this Alaskan Courage series is no different. Goodreads

SNOW like ASHES, SARA RAASCH

A rare fantasy-esque novel I did read back in the day. Between its title and the snowfall on the cover, I’m assuming some of these novel has a winter-y theme. Goodreads

How many of these have you read? Would you read any of these? Do you like snowy locales? Comment all of your thoughts down in the comment section. Let’s talk.

Thank you for visiting; please do return again soon.

    1. I think when I wrote this as a draft I jinxed us! We’ve had more snow this year (already) than we had all of last according to meteorologists. And we still have TOO MUCH of winter to go. Hopefully it is all coming now and it will be scarce the rest of the season. ;)

  1. What a fun book theme! I haven’t read any of these, but there are several of them I’m interested in reading. I like reading books with snowy settings but as I get older, but in real life I’m not so fond of snow anymore. Snow for Christmas through New Year’s makes it a beautiful setting for the holidays, but after that, I’m good without it.
