A REPEAT LIST OF 2026 BLOG + MORE GOALS!

I said it last year, and I’m saying it again this because honestly, my goals are mostly a “copy and paste” scenario from year to year (though yes, I do write things new rather than a literal copy + paste of the exact same text). Goals are honestly weird. I don’t think I’m a person who likes goals because no matter how well meaning I am about them, I’m more depressed than excited to see what I did or didn’t meet at the end of the year. I do like plans (especially when it comes to short terms things) though which I think can be the same as goals. It’s more the “big” things that feel overwhelming and sometimes unachievable. As a result, I’m going into more the plans of 2026 rather than goals, at least not “rigid” goals.

A REPEAT LIST OF 2026 BLOG + MORE GOALS! Looking at some goals as the #NewYear gets started! #TopTen #TopTenTuesday Share on X

Let’s dive into these repeat goals, shall we?

BLOG and READING GOALS 2026

CARE LESS

This heading is perhaps unfeeling, but it’s where I’m at. Where I apply this is the noisy landscape of the Internet. I no longer have the energy, nor should I want to give any time, to the opinions of people with millions of followers who are telling me what I should or shouldn’t have in my life; what I should or shouldn’t think; or what I should or shouldn’t be doing. 2026 needs to be the year I get over that completely which is something I worked on through at least part of 2024 and all of 2025. It has, so far, felt so much better and I enjoy the good part of the Internet far more as a result.

CONTINUE the BOOK COLLECTION declutter

This has carried over from multi years of these goal lists, but it’s one I carry into each year because for me, it matters.

CONTINUE CONTENT PLANNING

Looking back on my prior year goals, I discovered that 2023 seems to be the year that I started to be “strict” with myself in regards to content and what I was going to publish. That grew in 2024 and in 2025, I never looked back. I want that to continue in 2026 because I never knew how much I needed a plan (it’s like that Carrie Underwood song love about finding something we never knew we needed). I have things planned (as of now) into March and April, and while there is usually change depending on what movie anniversary or new release comes up, it’s still SO nice to have plans.

LEARN to HAVE FUN

Yes, I’m aware, this is a weird heading, and I don’t mean this in the basic sense. I 100% have fun and I know “how” to have fun. That said, what I mean by this is, I feel like many people have kind of “lost” the ability to have fun because too many of us are wrapped up in serious things or issues that we need to give ourself permission to “let go” of. The Internet and the people who use it daily to obsessively push something is, at least where I’m concerned, a large part of why we’ve forgotten this. I just hope for all of us (or those who need to remember this), 2026 is the year of silly, happy and fun again!

PURSUE CREATIVITY

For as long as I can remember I’ve always done something creative, but I don’t have skill at anything, so it’s more a “just for fun” thing which I think still matters. However, outside of anything I will do to create something, I also want to continue to buy pretty creative things. I think given the direction of creative pursuits that we’re told to “accept” (meaning things made artificially) and deal with, it’s important to want to see art from the talented people who have worked years to hone that skill. It’s also just prettier too!

READ ANOTHER BOOK by KATHERINE CENTER

I really enjoyed Happiness for Beginners and liked the other book by Katherine I read, but with her adaptation for The Bodyguard coming this year, I need to read more by her.

UP the WATER INTAKE

Some weeks I do better than others, but I always have the best intention to “up” my water intake. If I keep a glass at the desk while working I tend to do better than on the days the glass stays in the fridge.

THINGS from PREVIOUS GOAL LISTS

  • BUY fewer books!
  • KEEP UP the daily walks (though I detest them!)
  • SCREEN breaks
  • TIME spent wisely

Ok, it’s now your turn! What type of blog and reading 2026 goals do you have? Do you have lofty reading goals or none at all? Blog ideas? Plans for change? Growth? Comment all of your thoughts below! Let’s talk.

  1. One of my goals is to stop snacking! I also want to read more fantasy this year.

Rissi, Thank you for sharing your goals. Have an amazing week.

    1. I could probably add that one too, Caryl – and I’m sure there are genres I’d like to read more of as well. So many goals floating around for us, right? :)

  2. Caring less about what others think has always been hard for me. You would think that, as I’ve gotten older, it would be easier. But it’s a difficult habit to break. If anything, the older I’ve gotten, the harder it is. The fact that I’ve had blue, purple, and pink hair and now wear bright blue glasses would lead you to think I’ve been over it. Nope, still insecure AF!

    1. Right? I totally understand this. I think I’ve been teaching myself to care so much less about things in general like what the Internet says or wants us to do or not do, no matter who it is or what side it’s coming from. For me, this feels like a start that hopefully can translate into real life. If someone isn’t part of my real life or even if it’s someone who doesn’t know me well in real life, well, I don’t think I should waste energy on letting those opinions bother me. But I do understand the struggle; it’s ALWAYS there.

  3. I LOVE daily walks and miss them when it is bitterly cold because I can’t get myself outside. I am so afraid I will get sick. I need to buy the appropriate winter gear to make it feasible (was 2 this morning, with a feel like of almost -20, I don’t know how to dress for that, LOL!). Great goals!

  4. I totally get the repeat goals! I have so many that I’m repeating too. I think it’s a good sign that those goals are working for you if they are the ones you want to continue working towards. Good luck on all of them!

  5. I don’t drink a lot of water either, so seeing that goal made me laugh. You’re so right about caring less. Social media has become some sort of battlefield these days, and I’m amazed by how repetitive and annoying the “discourse” always is. That’s why I generally ignore it. Screen Breaks is another goal I’m also going to try to achieve, though it feels difficult at times. I hope you achieve all your goals!

    1. Well said (that SM is SO repetitive about the “discourse,” and I find it doesn’t matter the “side”). Maybe someday this will change. Maybe not. Until then, like you, I am working towards ignoring it more and more. It’s helpful. :)
