MORE BOOK COVERS WITH CUTE ANIMALS ON THE COVER

Since I’m not one of the 99.9% of readers (and general population!) who loves animals, I have to admit, when it comes to cute animals in books, I don’t remember them well. I don’t think I’ve ever thought a book could be improved by an animal, and sometimes, though rarely, I even find the inclusion of a pet annoying. Most of the time though, they don’t bother me in the least. Today, instead of trying to recall cute animals in books, I’m going to feature books with animals on the cover. Just because.

I’ve already done this before, so the goal is always to find titles I didn’t feature last time. The books below are mostly classic children’s stories, but still, they are books with animals so I’m going to call this a win. These are the goals, so let’s see what we can find, shall we?

BOOKS with CUTE ANIMALS on the COVER

OVER EASY, PAMELA FORD

This one has a heroine who is a dog groomer plus dogs on the cover so I’m sure it’s all about cute animals, too. Goodreads

WATCHER in the PINEY WOODS, ELIZABETH MCDAVID JONES

Starting it off with, like I said, a children’s book! I read these AG mysteries quite a lot once upon a time. They were once some of my favorite reads, and while I didn’t double check, I think this is one I still own on a closet shelf with other childhood reads that gather dust. Goodreads

THE HORSE and HIS BOY, THE LAST BATTLE and THE LION, THE WITCH and the WARDROBE, C.S. LEWIS

These books have lots of fun and more importantly, funny animal characters. Mr. and Mrs. Beaver alone are worth enjoying these books! ‘Horse’ on Goodreads | ‘Last Battle’ on Goodreads | ‘Lion’ on Goodreads

THE SIREN of SUSEX, MIMI MATTHEWS

Everyone raves about Mimi’s historical novels but I haven’t read one. I did add this one to one of my book orders though so hopefully I’d enjoy. Goodreads

THE POKY LITTLE PUPPY

A childhood storybook, yes, but this is one I think I still have in a box of old books somewhere. It was a book read often given how “worn” my Golden book copy is. Goodreads

SOMEONE JUST LIKE YOU, MEREDITH SCHORR

Meredith’s books sound and look darling. There are all kinds of dogs on this cover so it’s quite fitting. Goodreads

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, FELICITY! and HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KIT! and HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOLLY, VALERIE TRIPP

These books, and the many different books that go with them (in the series), were big in my childhood. I read these ALL the time, loved them, and still have them all because I haven’t thought about parting with them. Though I’m sure at some point I will. Until then, look at the cute animals on these three books! American Girl on Goodreads

BORROW my HEART, KASIE WEST

Look at all the dogs on this cover! Plus, it’s a Kasie West novel so I’m sure it’s a fun read. Goodreads

BY the SHORES of SILVER LAKE,FARMER BOY, and THE FIRST FOUR YEARS, LAURA INGALLS WILDER

I feel like animals do feature prominently in some of the Laura Ingalls Wilder books. Plus, who else things these books could have a resurgence because of the new series they’re making? Goodreads

    1. I’m one of those rare people who doesn’t mind not having a pet. Odd since I grew up with dogs and always cats, too! But it works to feature animals on covers, so… that was fun. :)

    1. That’s awesome, Cindy! As I put this together I did remember The Beavers from Narnia who I think are hilarious so maybe I could have thought of enough “moments” or characters to fit… but this worked too. ;)

    1. I’d be the same, Susan. I did grow up with animals (my dad had outdoor dogs and we had cats), but I just didn’t become an adult who always wants a pet or “needs” one. I know some people find kids in books annoying, and sometimes that’s how I feel about animals. Still, I’ve read lots where they add a cute storyline, too. :)
