‘FINDING HER EDGE’: A NETFLIX ADAPTATION ABOUT LOVE IN COMPETITION

An adaptation that Netflix is distributing, Finding Her Edge, is about competition and the entanglements that unfold in this drama.

Finding Her Edge (2026) TV Show Review

Letting go of her figure skating possibilities is something Adriana (Madelyn Keys) found painful and difficult as a young skater. But convinced by the coaches in her life that her ice dancing partner isn’t her right match, because in ice dancing height matters, she breaks their partnership… and his heart.

Now, over two years later, Adriana runs her father’s skating rink, a man who, along with his wife, was skating royalty. The forgotten daughter, she stands by, doing the hard things while her father’s coaching and energy pours into the elegant and beautiful Elise (Alexandra Beaton). The eldest daughter from this skating legacy. Then, coming up for the next gold medal win is Adriana’s baby sister, Maria (Alice Malakhov).

After Freddie (Olly Atkins) returns to Russo Rink to train with a new partner, and Elise is hurt, keeping her family legacy afloat falls to Adriana. This forces her to step back on the ice. She does this by partnering with Brayden Elliot (Cale Ambrozic), the skater with a bad boy reputation.

A young adult drama that is definitely high on the drama, this one is still entertaining. It’s based on a novel by Jennifer Iacopelli, and is rumor has it, inspired by one of the classic novels penned by Jane Austen. Persuasion is the inspiration, and surprisingly, this Netflix adaptation does do a nice job of bringing in elements of that. I haven’t read the novel, so I don’t know how Jennifer uses the elements, but on screen, it flows nicely. Of course, there is also Cinderella similarities too.

If you want something lighthearted (even with the drama) and easy to binge watch, then Finding Her Edge is fun. The cast impresses, or most do, and I love (once again) that the cast is full of unfamiliar faces and names. Maria’s Jane Austen references are cute, and the ice skating sequences are really pretty, plus there is a cool train and studio romance-y scene albeit likely with the wrong guy.

Anyone looking for a quick weekend binge ideal for this time of year and the perfect release for an Olympic year.

Content: this one gets a TV-PG rating, but it has innuendo including discussion about sexual orientation. Other characters like the same-sex (romantically) and additionally, at least two characters are comfortable with casual sex and having sex with different people (it’s unclear if they are teens or adult). We see characters make out a lot and we see one girl with her legs wrapped around a guy (rumor has it the two “hook up”). Please note; this content only reflects the first three episodes out of ten, updates on content notes will appear here if we see more episodes.
