A six-part binge released to Prime Video, Steal is more than just this, it’s also very intense.

The workday begins ordinarily for Zara Dunne (Sophie Turner). Or somewhat so. She works in an ordinary office at a fund investment company where she’s currently running late in her task of training the latest intern starting that morning at their Lochmill Capital firm. Daily she works next to Luke (Archie Madekwe) who also happens to be one of her best mates. Then things go bad when an elite team of thieves walk in and take over the office.
Seeing one of their co-workers violently assaulted, Zara and Luke are singled out given their jobs on the trade processing team. These trade thefts take billions of dollars from the pensions of everyday people which is something that doesn’t sit well with DCI Rhys Covac (Jacob Fortune-Lloyd), the senior investigator. He wants to know why these thieves did this, and who would want to take this money from hardworking people. Only thing is, Rhys has dark secrets that may threaten the case.

‘STEAL’: AN INTENSE THRILLER WITH PRIME VIDEO. Review of the #PrimeVideo thriller #Steal featuring #SophieTurner. Share on XThis show is, to my surprise, really quite good. It’s intense which does sometimes make us not want to keep watching sometimes, but that’s part of what makes the start so intriguing. Things get off to that almost impossible intense start before the rest of the season, while still strong, is more of the aftermath of everything that happened. It’s in these episodes that make us question everything (and everyone) and wonder, like Covac, what is this all about? Even the music is ideal for building suspense.
The acting is good and while there is really only three main stars (Turner, Madekwe, Fortune-Lloyd), you’ll also see Anna Maxwell-Martin. Everyone plays their roles very well, including the creepy thieves in that first episode. (Their calm is more creepy than anger.) Everyone is “broken” as far as characters go, and as a result, it makes the viewer more distressed too because we want someone to heal and have a better life.
I don’t know if this is a rewatchable show for me, but if you like, as the press release describes this, high octane thrillers, well then Steal may be the ideal kind of watch you want to binge. It’s unique in that it’s a story where the heist happens first rather than story that builds up to one in the conclusion. All in all, the show is good. It’s well produced and the cast is also good, which means the question that remains is whether you like intensity in your stories or not.

Content: This one has mature themes which include intense scenes showing the thieves threaten and even violently hurt some people with the butts of their weapons. We see various other people die throughout the show; often there are pools of blood resulting from these deaths. There is also profanity including shit, the f-word (many uses) and other British slang. The show rated TVMA.
