Ms. Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries, Series Two (2021) Acorn Review
It’s been two glorious weeks in which Peregrine Fisher (Geraldine Hakewill) and her sometimes reluctant cohort Detective James Steed (Joel Jackson) are busy “dancing” around a would be relationship. But they seem to be in love and together, they plan to see where it goes. However, as is usual, they’re happiness is put on hold when Peregrine, off to an appointment about remodeling her house, makes a gruesome discovery.
This brings James into a new investigation, only this time around, James’ boss, Sparrow (Greg Stone) has some harsher (than normal!) words to say to James about his involvement with Peregrine. However, James and Peregrine aren’t the only lovers on perilous ground.
TV SERIES REVIEW | ‘FRANKIE DRAKE MYSTERIES,’ SEASON THREE: RETURN FOR MORE FUN!
THE FUN ‘MS. FISHER’S MODERN MURDER MYSTERIES,’ SERIES TWO RETURNS TO ACORN #AcornTV #MsFisher #Mystery Share on XI’m a bit conflicted about this series just because I adore Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, which is what this spins off from. Peregrine is the niece of Phryne, and as someone who loves her gang, it’s kind of bittersweet to have the producers ask us to “move on” from them. Still, Peregrine carves out a place in our hearts as do her mates. That said, I will say (and its EARLY days in series two since I have the entire series yet to watch), if the romance between she and James goes the way my TV fangirl pessimist brain goes, they’ll be disappointment.
Nonetheless, it’s a good time with lots of pretty things to see! There’s bright costuming, modern architecture and a fun little split screen feature addition. If you enjoy cozy mysteries or anything that has a back-and-forth romantic entanglement, you’ll enjoy Ms. Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries. It’s snazzy and snappy, plus has a solid cast of characters that’s nearly impossible not to like.
You can find Ms. Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries, Series Two (episodes one and two) digitally on Acorn TV; watch for new episodes on Monday.

Content: there’s the usual innuendo and sassy comments. In this first episode ‘Death by Design,’ a very casual approach to relationships and sex (the suspects are part of a kind of “swingers” group). There are other causal relationship remarks. *Note, this content advisory applies only to the first episode of series two. The series is TV-14.
Sincere thanks to Acorn for the opportunity to view a screener; all opinions are honest, and my own.
