Murder in a Small Town, Season Two (2025) Fox TV Show Review
Bumpy roads aside, Chief Karl Alberg (Rossif Sutherland) is settling into his new life. For now, there is calm even as he tries to navigate new professional responsibilities. He’s good at being chief of police in the small coastal town he moves to, all with the goal of escaping the terrible cases he’s used to in the bigger city. He’s in a relationship, despite their tough beginning, with Cassandra Lee (Kristin Kreuk), the smart and charming newly elected councilwoman, plus he’s trying to navigate being a father to his teen daughter. Despite her ordeal and worry over Karl’s work, Cassandra loves him, and she wants to give their relationship a chance. Life is good.
Then a new case comes up and again throws small town life into upheaval. Coinciding with this is the mayor (Marcia Gay Harden) and her plans to be more involved in how the police department operates all while Cassandra steps into her more public role as an aspiring politician.
TV SHOW REVIEW | ‘HIGH POTENTIAL’ SEASON TWO: WHO IS THE GAME MASTER?
‘MURDER IN A SMALL TOWN,’ SEASON TWO: THE SMALL TOWN MYSTERY IS NOW BACK. Review of the second season of #MurderinaSmallTown. #KristinKreuk Share on XSeason two of Murder in a Small Town is back (yay) and while I’m sure I’ll have ups and downs in my reaction, overall I’m optimistic. It starts out well though like season one I’m not sure the love story between Karl and Cassandra will be smooth. I want it to be because this is a show that is going against type by actually putting Cassandra and Karl in a relationship and this matters. I don’t think TV goers know how much it does when we’ve been told that the only love stories that work for TV are the endless will-they-or-won’t-they. I’m hoping that this couple will stay a couple even with good and bad times.
The cast is really good and I enjoy everyone. I think Sutherland, who I don’t remember seeing in anything, fits what they want from this character well. Having liked Kreuk in other TV shows, I’m so glad to see her back in a starring role; she is equally good as Cassandra. Based on a series of novels, I cannot say if Fox does a nice job with Murder in a Small Town, but it’s definitely a good show even if it has to stand alone.
These are early days, but I’m intrigued. We get to see some familiar crime-solvers from season one (plus new) and hopefully we will see a strong bond between Cassandra and Karl, something I hope is the driving force.
Stream, at publication, season one on Hulu or on the Fox app; or stream Murder in a Small Town season two (episode one) now on the Fox app. Watch the show on Fox Tuesdays.

Content: the show is pretty much on the same par as season one. There is murder, and we see ( episode one) a body in a pool of blood which is part of a murder coverup. Likely the TV-14 show will have much the same content; which also includes some sensuality and lots of kisses.
