THE WINTER 2026 TV SHOW SEASON: SPINOFFS, REMAKES AND MORE!
When it comes to seasons in TV land (at least when it comes to network premieres), there is no season more “prime” than the fall slot. Or at least this is how it once was. The entire landscape has shifted and is now different because of streaming. No matter what’s considered “best” release seasons now, this doesn’t stop other seasons from boasting starry premieres. With all of the holiday festivities behind us, the winter 2026 TV season is kicking into gear, and we’re here to look at some of the titles you’ll see set to drop during this three (about) month period!

Let’s dive in and see what you can discover during the final weeks of winter.
WINTER 2026 TV SHOWS
BEST MEDICINE (FOX) – JANUARY 4
Inspired by the well-loved British dramedy Doc Martin (with Martin Clunes), this Fox drama is the U.S.’s answer to the charming drama from across the pond. It’s also one I binge watched in the last two years and did enjoy. I probably won’t watch this Josh Charles led show on a weekly basis, but can confess to being curious. Plus, Clunes is supposed to have a guest spot role which could be fun!
Synopsis: The series follows Martin Best (Josh Charles, The Good Wife), a brilliant surgeon who abruptly leaves his illustrious career in Boston to become the general practitioner in a quaint East Coast fishing village where he spent summers as a child. Unfortunately, Martin’s blunt and borderline rude bedside manner rubs the quirky, needy locals the wrong way, including schoolteacher Louisa Gavin (Abigail Spencer, Suits). He quickly alienates the town, even though he’s all they have. – Fox Flash

HIS & HERS (NETFLIX) – JANUARY 8
Synopsis: Set in the sweltering heat of Atlanta, Anna lives in haunting reclusivity, fading away from her friends and career as a news anchor. But when she overhears about a murder in Dahlonega – the sleepy town where she grew up – Anna is snapped back to life, pouncing on the case and searching for answers. Detective Jack Harper is strangely suspicious of her involvement, chasing her into the crosshairs of his own investigation. – Netflix Media
A six-episode binge release, you will be able to stream this on Netflix January 8
PONIES (PEACOCK) – JANUARY 15
This one is described as a kind of spy or espionage thriller and will have Emilia Clarke and Haley Lu Richardson as stars, playing two women who have lost husbands under mysterious circumstances and their search for answers. The 1970s will also serve as the timeframe!
Synopsis: In 1977 Moscow, two “PONIES” (“persons of no interest”) become CIA operatives and uncover a Cold War conspiracy their husbands were killed for. – Peacock
An eight-episode binge release, you will be able to stream this on Peacock January 15
SEVEN DIALS (NETFLIX) – JANUARY 15
The novel inspiring this is by Agatha Christie. This is a remake and is, of course, a mystery title (because Christie!) and will follow a heroine by the name of Eileen aka “Bundle” Brent. The show is going to be a limited series (or this is my impression) and will be a three-episode binge release. likely not so for most, this winter 2026 TV title is possibly the one I’m most curious for.
Synopsis: England. 1925. At a lavish country house party, a practical joke appears to have gone horribly, murderously wrong. It will be up to the unlikeliest of sleuths – the fizzingly inquisitive Lady Eileen ‘Bundle’ Brent – to unravel a chilling plot that will change her life, cracking wide open the country house mystery. – Netflix Media
A three-episode binge release, you will be able to stream this on Netflix January 15
STEAL (PRIME VIDEO) – JANUARY 21
Sophie Turner is leading this one and it sounds interesting. It’s about a normal blue-collar worker who somehow finds herself caught up in a dangerous heist when criminals take over her work place and us her along with her mate to steal money.
Synopsis: Steal is a contemporary, high-octane thriller about the heist of the century and the ordinary office worker, Zara (Sophie Turner), who finds herself at the heart of it. – Amazon MGM Studios Press
FINDING her EDGE (NETFLIX) – JANUARY 22
An ideal winter release (especially with the upcoming winter Olympics), a novel inspires this one, and will follow a skater who wants to save her family rink, which in part means she has to partner with someone new while also struggling to unravel feelings for her former partner, who was also her first love.
Synopsis: The series follows the three Russo sisters, heirs to a struggling figure skating dynasty. As middle sister, seventeen-year-old Adriana trains for the World Championships with new partner Brayden, while still harbouring feelings for her first love and former partner, Freddie. Her life becomes complicated when she and Brayden pretend to be a couple off the ice so they can land a sponsorship to keep the financially struggling Russo rink afloat. – Netflix Media
A seven-episode binge release, you will be able to stream this on Netflix January 22
MEMORY of a KILLER (FOX) – JANUARY 26
Synopsis: New psychological thriller Memory of a Killer, featuring Patrick Dempsey’s return to broadcast television alongside Emmy Award-winner Michael Imperioli and Gina Torres. – Fox Flash
Watch a “special two-night premiere event beginning Sunday, January 25 (10:00-11:10 pm et / live to all time zones).” episode two will then debut Monday January 26th at 9 p.m. which will be the regular time and night.
VANISHED (MGM+) – FEBRUARY 1
Though she has roles she is known for, I haven’t seen any of Kaley Cuoco in her star turning character roles. Instead, I know her from things like titles like Crime of Fashion on what was once known as ABC Family. This sounds like a mysterious and intriguing story, so I’m sure I’ll be curious to see how it goes.
Synopsis: When a couple’s trip to Paris takes a dark turn with the sudden disappearance of her boyfriend Tom (Claflin) aboard a train to the south of France, Alice (Cuoco) is plunged into a web of intrigue and danger, uncovering shocking secrets about the man she thought she knew. – Amazon MGM Studios
This should be available to stream on February 1 with MGM+
THE WINTER 2026 TV SHOW SEASON: SPINOFFS, REMAKES AND MORE! #YoungSherlock #CIA #Scarpetta Share on XCIA (CBS) – FEBRUARY 23
This expands the FBI universe on CBS and will follow Tom Ellis’ CIA case officer who is a rule-breaker. Also starring with be former Chicago Med (or perhaps given his recent guest arc, maybe not-so-former is apt) alumni Nick Gehlfuss who is the rule follower.
Synopsis: When by-the-book FBI Special Agent Bill Goodman (Nick Gehlfuss) is loaned out to a clandestine CIA/FBI task force, he finds himself teamed up with secretive and roguish CIA case officer Colin Glass (Tom Ellis). Together they will work covert operations in New York, uncovering international plots, terrorist cells and geopolitical secrets. – Paramount Press

Y: MARSHALS (CBS) – MARCH 1
Another “spin off” from the Dutton / Tyler Sheridan world that began with Yellowstone, this drama is going to follow Kayce Dutton as he leaves one part of his life behind and joins the U.S. Marshals in his next chapter. It’s also something on the winter 2026 TV lineup many are curious to see.
Synopsis: Y: MARSHALS stars Luke Grimes reprising his role as Kayce Dutton. With the Yellowstone Ranch behind him, Dutton joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana. – Paramount Press

YOUNG SHERLOCK (PRIME VIDEO) – MARCH 4
This one comes from Guy Ritchie, a man who has already has his creative mind linked to the Sherlock lore through the two features with Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock Holmes. In this one we find Holmes just starting out in a re-imagining that sees him have a friendship with Moriarty and explores what leads to their ultimately bitter (and deadly) rivalry.
Synopsis: […] Young Sherlock follows the origin story of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s beloved detective in an explosive re-imagining of this iconic character’s early days. Sherlock Holmes is a disgraced young man – raw and unfiltered – when he finds himself wrapped up in a murder case that threatens his liberty. His first ever case unravels a globe-trotting conspiracy that changes his life forever. – Amazon MGM Studios
An eight-episode binge release, you will be able to stream this on Prime Video March 4
SCARPETTA (PRIME VIDEO) – MARCH 11
Based on the novels, this one will see Nicole Kidman playing the titular character and a woman who returns to where she grew up in order to investigate a terrible murder and try to smooth things with her strained family, including her sister whom Jamie Lee Curtis will play. Kidman’s leading heroine Kay is a forensic pathologist. Patricia Cornwell pens the novels that inspire this.
Synopsis: With skilled hands and an unnerving eye, this unrelenting medical examiner is determined to serve as the voice of the victims, unmask a serial killer, and prove that her career-making case from 28 years prior isn’t also her undoing. – Amazon MGM Studios

All of these are new to me! I watch anime more than anything, but would love to find a good TV series to watch as well. Which one are you most excited for?
I’m intrigued by Ponies and will try Best Medicine at some point (which reminds me I meant to watch the pilot today). I also always have to see the Agatha Christie adaptations so I’ll be watching Seven Dials at some point too. ;)
