‘SUGAR AND VICE: A HANNAH SWENSEN MYSTERY’ IS NEWEST INSTALLMENT IN POPULAR FRANCHISE
The first installment in a Hallmark favorite mystery franchise in a little while, Sugar and Vice is another mystery that baked and amateur sleuth Hannah Swensen must solve!
Sugar and Vice: A Hannah Swensen Mystery (2026) Hallmark TV Film Review
Renovations are complete leading to the re-opening of the Lake Eden Inn, which is a momentous occasion for the town. The occasion is marked by a party and is elevated as a costume party. Catering the deserts is The Cookie Jar owner, Hannah (Alison Sweeney). Talked into having some fun, she is connived to dress up and have some fun with her boyfriend, attorney Chad Norton (Victor Webster). The night promises to be bright and lovely.
Things start out optimistically, but then take a turn when Hannah discovers a body, and she, along with everyone in attendance, must stay at the inn during a storm which traps them with a killer!

‘SUGAR AND VICE: A HANNAH SWENSEN MYSTERY’ IS NEWEST INSTALLMENT IN POPULAR FRANCHISE. #HannahSwensen #Hallmark Share on XThis is the first title of the Hannah Swensen movies I’ve seen in a long time. The franchise, based on observations I’ve made is one of Hallmark’s more famous ones, and given that a fourteenth was announced on social media, it would seem there is more to come with these crime solving characters. The “voice” is like any other installment which is a small town, and the friendly banter of townspeople hits the usual notes.
We also see Barbara Niven reprising her role as Hannah’s mum, and she’s the usual memorable character, only in this one, she’s all the perfect costumes and getting curious about Hannah’s investigation. This is a fun movie that follows familiar patterns (including a cameo that fans will immediately love) and will, I am sure, delight fans. The storm that rages outside also inspires mysterious atmospheric tones, too! As is the conclusion of any review with the Hallmark branding, this is another title sure to entertain frequent fans who will appreciate the familiarity.

Content: this one does involve murder, and briefly, the body is shown. There is some conversation that someone is having an affair. There really isn’t anything graphic and the TV-PG movie is very normal for any of the mysteries you see on the network.
