Though it does sound a little ways off, the arrival of anticipated summer releases will soon be dropping either on our favorite streamer or in theaters. The big “start of summer” holiday has come and gone and now, we await the titles that summertime teases us with. One of these is Enola Holmes 3, the newest installment in the Netflix franchise which inspires us to taking a closer look at everything we know or maybe even some of the things we really want to know (aka speculation) about this film.

So, all this to say, let’s jump right in and see what we know about this adaptation!

WHAT WILL the FILM be ABOUT?
Even from the first whispers of this title, reporting suggested that this title may up the stakes which of course means that adventure will walk hand in hand with this new case Enola is working on. Naturally, the official releases seem to lend credence to these rumors, and below is the official Netflix logline, which reads as follows:
“Adventure chases detective Enola Holmes to Malta, where personal and professional dreams collide on a case more tangled and treacherous than any she has faced before” – via Netflix Media
These stories are also inspired by the novels by Nancy Springer.
WHO is BACK for ENOLA HOLMES 3?
Like the first two films, the primary cast will be back in this third film. Which is something we can all appreciate. According to Netflix, the favorite faces returning to play the mischievous and fun-loving characters include Millie Bobby Brown (obviously, as Enola!), Louis Partridge, Henry Cavill and Helena Bonham Carter
Though he appeared in the second film the cast will also have Himesh Patel returning, who plays Dr. Watson in this version of Sherlock. Sharon Duncan-Brewster returns too and is credited as playing Moriarty, and the inclusion of this character also leads me to again feel a sense of dread for Enola… and her beau!
A HAPPILY EVER AFTER or HEARTBREAK?
This is going to be my “speculation” heading rather than any official release I’ve seen about this title.
Back when the first film was released back in 2020, some fans didn’t care about the romance angle. I haven’t read the books so this addition may be a step away from those, but honestly, I loved it.
Not only because yes, I am a fan of a good or sweet love story, but it fit with Enola as a learning experience. This is the important reason I like it because Twekesberry teaches Enola that being alone, as she has been conditioned to believe is right, is not the way to be. Alone was a big theme of movie one, and so his addition is lovely because I liked seeing that friendship and romance form. Whether it’s friendship or romance, we should have people in our lives we love and can rely on. These two are building that together, and I don’t believe that letting love into your life and having that relationship means that you cannot keep using your mind and doing some of the work you enjoy.

There have been lots of official images (see the teaser – and can we talk about how cute it is?? – poster art above) dropped by Netflix over the past weeks, and honestly, while I love the direction they tease, which includes a proposal and later, a large diamond on a certain finger of Enola’s hand, I also feel as though the fact we are seeing this means that tragedy may befall Enola’s beau or just her love story. And I am quite sad about this.
What are your thoughts on this? Is Enola’s story destined to follow her brother Sherlock’s? Will she remain alone?

Yes! Well, sort of. The streamer dropped what they call a teaser to your Netflix channel today. Clocking in at a minute (+ a few seconds), I am sure adventure awaits in this clip! So make sure to check out hot off the press teaser (see it below). On June ninth 2026, the streamer also dropped the full trailer, which yes, I am adding below!

THE ORIGINAL TEASER!
There are lots of photos floating around, and as alluded to above, the fact that we are getting to see so many that seem to be key or important moments makes me think that Enola’s story will have heartbreak. Something I’m not really happy about as a fan of the bond she and Tewkesberry have.
