‘AN AMISH MURDER’ IS INTERESTING SMALL TOWN MYSTERY
One of the Lifetime mystery movies, An Amish Murder is inspired by a novel (of a different name) and is a script that tells a surprisingly compelling story.
An Amish Murder (2013) Lifetime TV Film Review
Six months back in her small Ohio hometown has been tough for Kate Burkholder (Neve Campbell). She is good at her job and works hard to ensure there is peace kept in her capacity as the chief of police but living so close and not being able to talk to her family, well, that’s not the easiest thing. Especially after she’s been gone for well over a decade.
The murder of a young woman upends the normally peaceful town, a victim who is from an Amish family. Katie makes every good effort to find the killer whom she believes is connected to a piece of her past she’d prefer to forget. Together with a tortured profiler (Noam Jenkins), who is on loan to her for the case, and her familiarity with the town, they try to put the pieces together.
TV SERIES REVIEW | ‘MISTLETOE MURDERS’ FIRST IMPRESSION: A COZY MYSTERY FROM HALLMARK
‘AN AMISH MURDER’ IS INTERESTING SMALL TOWN MYSTERY. Review of the Lifetime TV film with Neve Campbell. #Mystery #Lifetime #Movies #MysteryMovie Share on XInspired by the novel titled Sworn to Silence, considering this is one of those movie-of-the-week mysteries, this film is actually very good. It’s not that I anticipate each film like this not being good, but rather than the number often means none really stand out. I think the reason this does is due to two parts and one of these is the acting. Neve Campbell is good in the lead role and I appreciate how she plays this character. I don’t know how accurate it is to the novel, but her interpretation is good. Everyone else with perhaps exception to one or two also puts in good performances.
Though it’s not as deep as say a big budget film or a TV show with many episodes, I think these characters have depth too which makes them interesting. I think this is what elevates this one to be something slightly apart from the normal peer film.
If you like mystery movies or the Hallmark mysteries (though this is far more adult), then you may find An Amish Murder worth an evening of viewing.
