THE CHELSEA DETECTIVE – AUGUST 3
Season four begins on Monday August 3, and there will be four all new episodes making up the fourth season. The show will return with Adrian Scarborough in the role of DI Max Arnold alongside DS Layla Walsh (played by Vanessa Emme) as they investigate a series of new murders.

Episode 1, “Death on the Aether” Synopsis: Butler Lucas is found dead in the Thames. The investigation gets complicated when the team learns that Lucas wasn’t Lucas at all – he was Billy Paige, an undercover journalist investigating the household of self-made fashion mogul, Clare Curtis. – via Acorn TV

Described as an Acorn TV Original, this show seems like it will be yet again another exciting cozy mystery you won’t want to miss! The concept is a marriage couple who are now retired from detective work, and instead now run a small seaside motel. However, as is always true of any of our sleuths, trouble and murder soon finds them when they become involved in a series of “baffling” cases.
This one seems like it will be great fun, so I’m definitely curious to see it!
Episode 1, “Party Boy” Synopsis: Married and retired Sydney detectives Vinny and Cole trade in homicide cases for a seaside motel in New Zealand. But their quiet retirement is disrupted when a boys’ weekend ends with a corpse in Unit 3. – via Acorn TV
THE ASSASSIN – AUGUST 31
I did watch part of this when it debuted with AMC, and it was super interesting with a great cast. Keely Hawes stars as a woman who has retired from her work as a government assassin and when her estranged son (who Freddie Highmore plays) comes to visit and to share news, the dangers of her past crop up to threaten them both.
Episode 1 Synopsis: Retired assassin Julie (Keeley Hawes, Bodyguard) and her estranged son Edward (Freddie Highmore, The Good Doctor) are forced to work together in a fight for survival, testing their dysfunctional relationship to its limits. – via Acorn TV
