‘PARIS IS ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA’: SEE LACEY CHABERT IN HALLMARK+ SHOW

Following in the footsteps of last year’s Christmas miniseries Twelve Dates ‘til Christmas, this series, which is also inspired by a book, Paris is Always a Good Idea hopes to capture some of the streaming magic every production chases.

Paris is Always a Good Idea (2026) Hallmark+ TV Show Review

Working for a nonprofit that does good work has been the sole passion of Chelsea Martin (Lacey Chabert). Her gap year European trip showed her a lot but sent her home with a broken heart. Now, she has pushes that all aside while working as an executive in the organization, she takes a trip to Paris to secure a donor only to discover that her workplace rival, Jason Knightley (Scott Michel Foster) is also coming along.

As she travels through Europe, Chelsea, with help from her dad and sister (Henry Czerny, Rebecca Hanssen), takes some time for herself. This inspires her to reconnect not just with the mother she lost or the places she’s travelling through but the three past loves in her life.

Like I said, this is based on a novel of the same name, which I did start to read but haven’t really gotten into. I think partly because of some topics I didn’t expect to “feel” so prevalent. Because of this, I don’t know that I’ll finish it and I probably went into this show with a bit of skepticism. Still, the travel angle is fun, so I wanted to give the show a chance. I think my favorite parts were the locales, and also, Scott Michael Foster.

Based on what I read, if you didn’t love the characters in the pages, this script seems to change quite a bit about them and their interactions. I really like Foster in this because he’s an actor I haven’t seen much. I think he’s a pretty good lead and he makes me curious. The beautiful views and locations in this show, which reportedly filmed in Paris and Spain, are the real stars though. The cast additionally includes Barbara Niven, Stephen Hagan, Julien Marlon Samani and Alejandro Albarracín.

A story that will unfold through a mere six episodes, this isn’t a show that requires a lot of time or commitment but is still fun. If you want to adventure through some gorgeous locales, don’t mind when Hallmark goes a bit more emotional (this one goes a bit deeper on the emotions and isn’t the usual weekly movie) or you like this cast, well then you should find this TV adaptation of Paris is Always a Good Idea something really good to watch.

Stream episodes one and two of Paris is Always a Good Idea now on Hallmark+; watch for weekly episode (Thursday) drops throughout August.

Content: this one has a TV-PG rating and has more thematic elements. The script has bigger emotional problems (generally speaking) but the story is very unlikely to be more adult in any other way.
