‘R.J. DECKER,’ SEASON TWO HAS NEW QUESTIONS AFTER SURPRISE END
Season two of ABC’s 2025 freshman fan favorite R.J. Decker is returning. Big cases and dangerous criminals find RJ Decker (Scott Speedman) as he works to build his reputation as a private investigator. The former newspaper photographer has had to overcome his disgraced past, and once found his life entwined with the savvy and possibly dangerous Emilia ‘Emi’ Ochoa (Jaina Lee Ortiz). The lovers haven’t talked in a while after someone killed Emi’s father, which is a case still unsolved.
RJ’s latest case involves a dance mob, and later a violent robbery occupies the police which RJ also finds himself drawn into.
R.J. Decker, Season Two (2026) ABC TV Show Review
This begins season two of ABC’s dramedy R.J. Decker. Prior to this premiere, I forgot that I hadn’t seen the entire first season, a freshman season I then had to binge. It’s a first season that became a fan favorite for so many. The show is another in the tradition that is a breezy kind of crime dramedy that is easy watching and despite its genre, even charming.

‘R.J. DECKER,’ SEASON TWO HAS NEW QUESTIONS AFTER SURPRISE END Share on XI suspect some of the appeal of this drama is its leading man Scott Speedman who plays the titular RJ Decker. He does well in this role and is really quite likable. Jaina is also good opposite him and this is a show that does away with the will-they-won’t-they in episode one of that first season. Now the question becomes, will they give them a chance? There is a host of other characters of course, and each has unique character traits.

Given the lead in to this season two (which was a certain dancing reality show), this premiere is a ton of fun if not totally satisfactory because of RJ Decker and Emi. If you enjoy light-hearted crime dramas such as Wild Cards or the former ABC drama Castle, well then, you’ll enjoy R.J. Decker.

Content: the TV-14 content of RJ Decker season two is much the same as one. There is some violence and threats. Some tense moments build. There is innuendo and there may be a sex scene here and there, but it’s not graphic. If it bothers you, a pairing is a same-sex relationship.
