Marking a change in the typical Agatha Christie canon, BritBox releases a new adaptation in a first which is a modern adaptation chronicling the adventures of Tommy and Tuppence.

Sharing a past that has some distance is Tommy (Josh Dylan) and Tuppence (Antonia Thomas). Some time has passed since the pair met up but fate brings them back together when they reunite at a party both are working. For Tommy, the author struggling with writer’s block, this is the most ideal thing that has happened to him in a long time. Seeing Tuppence, the actress, again is a second chance for him because he has always carried a torch for her.
However, the pair soon fall into a curious mystery which throws them into more than one dangerous situation.

From the casting news to the “first look,” social media has been busy creating buzz for this one. From my perspective the cast is really good and though I don’t know Antonia Thomas (which I am glad for), I was curious to see Josh Dylan lately from the Apple TV drama The Buccaneers. As one of the only characters I liked from the show, I wanted to see how he played Tommy and I am glad I can see a newcomer (for me) in the role of Tuppence. Also in the cast is the veteran Imelda Staunton. Needless to say, the cast is a good reason to watch this, but of course, there is more.
TV SERIES REVIEW | ‘COOPER AND FRY’ IS THE LATEST CRIME DRAMA FROM BRITBOX
From the many adaptations I’ve seen and the little I read of the first Tommy and Tuppence novel (and yes, it was very little), this isn’t a faithful adaptation. Having said that, it’s fair because of the contemporary setting. The show is fun and sassy and thoroughly entertaining and if you like these characters from the universe, then I think it’s worth giving Tommy and Tuppence a chance. It’s a fun time; it’s a new show that one can easily and highly recommend. It’s got style and intriguing stories which I am sure will continues as the rest of the episodes drop weekly on the BritBox streaming service.

Content: This is a TV-14 series that is much like any other British series. There is violence and tense moments as is typical in the crime drama genre. Characters are threatened and someone commits suicide.
