‘LUDWIG,’ SERIES TWO: PUZZLE CREATOR WITH THE DEDUCTIVE SKILL
Back for more puzzles and with wonderful characters is the season two of Ludwig.
Ludwig, Series Two (2026) BritBox TV Review
Working now as himself, John ‘Ludwig’ Taylor (David Mitchell) has stepped out of the shadow of his missing twin brother James. He is balancing his work as a master puzzle setter and a consulting gig with the police on select cases. Having found a closer bond with his brother’s son Henry (Dylan Hughes) and wife Lucy (Anna Maxwell Martin), he continues to live with them while they try to work out why his brother disappeared and where he is?
The latest case Ludwig works is a curious murder, with two confessions, that takes place in the theater. The question becomes who had the motive to kill a patron of the arts?
TV SERIES REVIEW | ‘COOPER AND FRY’ IS THE LATEST CRIME DRAMA FROM BRITBOX
‘LUDWIG,’ SERIES TWO: PUZZLE CREATOR WITH THE DEDUCTIVE SKILL Share on XMuch like the first season, I find this show as being so good. It’s one of those titles that, if you like mysteries, feels like a “complete package” in many regards. If I had a complaint, it would be the underlying thread of the missing brother, which I am assuming will carry on for future seasons. I find shows that step away from stories that rely on every episode less interesting, but I know that most viewers come back for those so I don’t see storytelling changing.

Beyond this, I love Ludwig and so far, this second season is the same! The cast is strong, and I love seeing Anna Maxwell Martin in something again after loving her in miniseries like Bleak House. Mitchell is also good and on a lesser note, I love that shows like this still have a creative little opening credit sequence. It’s cute and well suited to the show, and the characters, too. All of whom I think are fun. I am a bit reserved about the new detectives since this one is a group of new arrivals and returning from the first season, but still, I’m optimistic!
If you like cozy mysteries, Ludwig is something entirely entertaining. It has a great idea and is one of those shows, perhaps because of the six-episode season, that you wish had just a little bit more to each year.
Stream, at publication, Ludwig season two episode one with BritBox standard; you can also binge watch the entire second season with BritBox premier.
