Movie News! A New ‘Mulan’ Looks to be Powerful Legend

July 7, 2019 2 Comments

Since the arrival of Cinderella to our contemporary movie screens, I’ve made no secret out of the fact that the live-action re-makes from Disney are bomb. If you can believe it that first film, which set into motion everything that has followed, debuted way back in 2015. How time does fly. Coming up, the next they will release is to be Mulan. Much to the adoration of fans and Disney enthusiasts, Disney creates some excitement with their all-new Mulan teaser trailer.

In 2018 the animated version of Mulan turned 20 years old, which baffles me since it was always one of the “newer” Disney movies. If ever there was something that instantly made me feel old, its these milestones of favorite childhood movies. Still, I’m not going to complain about all of the re-makes and re-imaginings Disney is producing of said childhood favorites. Today Disney releases their first (far as I know) teaser trailer for this upcoming film. (Which I had no idea even had a release date already.)

This re-make is eliminating some characters (which I’ll confess disappoints), but if the trailer is anything to go by, this story looks to be all power and beauty (scenery). I just hope in creating a film that the writers want to convey this kind of (“power”) message, they don’t lose sight of the charm of the original, a story that also has its own kind of power. (And understands how to balance the two.)

Disney’s new adaptation of Mulan will release March 2020 (as of now). Before we get to a teaser poster and the Mulan teaser trailer, here’s an official Disney synopsis.

When the Emperor of China issues a decree that one man per family must serve in the Imperial Army to defend the country from Northern invaders, Hua Mulan, the eldest daughter of an honored warrior, steps in to take the place of her ailing father. Masquerading as a man, Hua Jun, she is tested every step of the way and must harness her inner-strength and embrace her true potential. It is an epic journey that will transform her into an honored warrior and earn her the respect of a grateful nation…and a proud father.
