Though it doesn’t “feel” quite like a proper autumnal romance, Hallmark kicks off their Harvest Nights 3-week campaign with this romance. In it we meet Brooklyn and Devin, two best friends who are often together. Brooklyn has dreams of being a matchmaker and Devin, a songwriter. Twelve some years later, Brooklyn (Jessica Lowndes) has accomplished this with her very own match-making business, Over the Moon in Love.
Devin (Wes Brown) is still working on his dreams, but for now, he’s back in town, and he wants to see Brooklyn.
It would seem Devin returns from overseas travel and songwriting with one thing in mind, finding love. Only trouble is, the person he loves doesn’t seem to share the same feelings as he does, and Brooklyn seems to be eager to pair him with someone writing a story on Brooklyn’s up and coming business. So begins a new love story, and a perfect track record Brooklyn intends to keep intact.
Over the Moon in Love (2019) Hallmark Review
There’s a lot of interesting things about this film from a production viewpoint along with it being a story I didn’t anticipate to play out as it does. As anyone will notice in the opening credits, what’s interesting about Over the Moon in Love is that some of its song lyrics are written by Jessica Lowndes and Wes Brown. In fact, its leading lady works overtime on this production who not only serves as an executive producer, she also writes the script, too! Impressive to say the least.
This is How I Rank the Hallmark ‘Fall Harvest’ Romance
Jessica Lowndes has also been in Christmas movies like A December Bride and Christmas at Pemberley Manor. Wes Brown has likewise been in a handful of Hallmark productions including their popular Christmas at Graceland Christmas original. (You’ll also recognize M. Frigion from Aurora Teagarden.) The two characters are easy to like, and of course, we enjoy the sweet love story this script tells.
Because Jessica is also a musical artist who produced music for the feature, there are some really pretty songs, and “soundtrack” music as well. More than any recent Hallmark I’ve seen, the musicality of the score really adds to the scene of the film; it evokes the emotions the audience is meant to feel in the moment, as well as the characters.
As I mention in the beginning, though it’s part of the autumn line-up, this really doesn’t give off all of the autumnal, cozy vibes. But, as is always true, Over the Moon in Love is a sweetheart of a friends to maybe more love story. Those who appreciate, wholesome romance, will see that this is another perfect match.
