‘Love and Sunshine’: A Romance to Honor Military Service
Amy romance that features a military hero is something that will forever and always interest me. Of this I have no doubt. When Hallmark produces something like this coupled with their signature brand of romance, of course, it’s going to be all the sweeter. Love and Sunshine features Danica McKeller as a small town business owner named Ally. Even more important to Ally is the work she does fostering service dogs. Her latest foster is Sunshine, a lovable golden retriever retired from service.

When Jake Terry (Mark Deklin) returns stateside from active duty, next to seeing his family, he’s most eager to be reunited with his partner, Sunshine. When he meets Ally, they bond over their love of Sunshine and a friendship begins between them, all of which is ahead of an unexpected change that may alter their relationship.
Love and Sunshine (2019) Hallmark Review
Anytime there’s a “new on Hallmark” romance, we sure to discover an enjoyable treat. Love and Sunshine is the same. What I like most about this one is that it’s such a mature romance while still keeping in step with the brand viewers of this network respect, appreciate and long for. There’s emotional upheaval and interesting feelings related to these unexpected events. The story is beautiful even in the result of this.
Mark Deklin isn’t a network familiar face, but he plays this role perfectly. He doesn’t just fit the role of soldier, he also looks the part. Danica is a fan favorite, and she too introduces us to a character who invests emotionally into this role with a girl next door quality. (Although, I am a tiny bit annoyed she considers a certain someone else… even if only momentarily.)
Before you wonder, don’t fear. Like everything we know and love, this one still has a happy end. If you like All for Love or Soldier’s Love Story, you’re going to find Love and Sunshine is another personable story with a strong hero, and sweet romance. It’s going to warm your heart, and leave you happy.
