‘Romance in the Air’: An Easy to Enjoy Hallmark Romance

One of the most familiar faces on the network, Cindy Busby returns (in a near back-to-back debut!) in Romance in the Air; the first of this year’s ‘Summer Nights’ romance titles.

Romance in the Air (2020) TV Film Review

With her job in a precarious position, Eden (Busby) does the only thing that might make it better. She heads back to Lake Tahoe, the summer destination where she used to be happiest. With her best friend in tow, Eden returns to her family’s summer home, a place she hasn’t been in years, and reconnects with her creativity and a childhood friend.

Riley (Torrance Coombs) is back in Lake Tahoe running his own business. All news that is much to Eden’s surprise. One of her best friend’s, they pick up where they left off, sharing with each other what they’ve been doing the last 10 plus years. The trouble is, Eden doesn’t plan to stay, and she also has someone back home…!

TV FILM REVIEW | A Surprising and Cute Romance: ‘Like Cats and Dogs’

Being “on repeat” is how I always feel each time I sit down to write a review for the Hallmark movies. This one falls into the same trap. On one hand it feels like some form of “pressure” to make the films sound good given they follow similar patterns (which I say as applause). On the other, writing about these is one of the easiest “outs” I allow myself. All that to say, Romance in the Air is cute.

Though not a Hallmark original, this acquired film sparkles with the same kind of charm this network usually brings. With exception to one side plot conclusion, everything about this one is cute. From the “extra” end scene to the sweet moments between the leading lady and hero, the story has a fun premise. The colorful balloons add something “fresh” and of course, those who enjoy familiar faces will like Cindy Busby in this role, along with the return of Torrance Coombs (Royally Ever After).

If you want something that easy to sit back, relax and enjoy, this is precisely that. That’s, for me, more than enough reason to play a movie.
