Ruby Herring Must Solve a Cold Case in ‘Prediction Murder’

Any of the Movie & Mystery signature series the Hallmark network has in progress are fun. Are there some I like better than others? Of course. But each one has their own cast of fun personalities who always seem to find themselves in search of their next whodunit mystery.

Ruby Herring Mysteries: Prediction Murder (2019) Hallmark Mysteries Review

Newly promoted at work, Ruby Herring (Taylor Cole) determines she’s ready to take on her dream job as investigative reporter. Sharing the same skills passed on to her from her father, Ruby’s first case in this new position is finds her through a series of anonymous notes that reference a cold case.

Together with her father, and friend, Detective Jake Killian (Stephan Huszar), Ruby must rely on her reporter instincts to untangle this curious case.

Another installment in the ‘Ruby Herring Mysteries’ line up presents the red-headed heroine with another mystery. Of course, as usual, it’s a fun time. This film is solid addition with its interesting story, along with the supporting characters. There’s a new addition that helps to set up a potential secondary romance. Surprisingly, I also kind of liked seeing the reappearance of an ex in Ruby’s life. Normally I don’t like this, but the way it’s done and what it leads to (the cute tie-in at the end) makes it somehow work.

In terms of story, this one is pretty much on par with others in the franchise. The pace keeps the forward momentum going pretty good; but then this is kind of a given considering the film (minus commercials) clocks in at or just under 90 minutes. There’s some sense of “danger” (but never intensely so), and like anything, it’s fun to try and solve the mystery with whoever the “on the case” team is.

The second in this newer line of mysteries, I have a feeling we’ll see more from this characters; and I must say, that’s not a fun prospect.

Content: Apart from some of those aforementioned tense moments and discussion of death/murder, this one has nothing to bother viewers. Ruby Herring: Prediction Murder is TV-PG.
