12 OF THE PRETTY MOVIE PROM SCENES
In film, there’s a whole host of films that revolve around a “big event” that is prom. Or at least features a pretty room festooned in twinkle lights otherwise known as prom. I’ve seen a ton of film’s that center on this event though none (that I remember) have made me feel like I missed an opportunity. That said, as I’m all about pretty scenes and fun movies, as the real prom season is (or has?) approaching, let’s look at 15 of the pretty prom scenes in movies.

Some of these place more importance on the prom than others, but each of these scenes have the pretty factor down to a science – and we love a pretty scene or two. Also, some of these may be more of a dance versus a “proper prom.” We’re still going with it. So, let’s see what such scenes we can find and see what comes.

10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU
Despite its horribly dated look, this scene is cute because there’s a sweet kiss and Patrick has a surprise for Kat. (Of course, it does go downhill from there.)
A CINDERELLA STORY
Ah, yes! One of the titles from my young years that I re-watched… a lot. Who can forget this epic masquerade ball? There’s lots of twinkle lights, and pretty costumes, too!
DATE WITH LOVE
Honestly, I cannot remember if this is prom or just a school dance. Either way, there is a dance and this is one of my favorite Hallmark films. Bailee Madison stars.
THE DUFF
This movie is all kinds of cute. Don’t know what it is I love so much about it, but there’s just something I find super fun and in many ways, endearing. Plus the prom scene is good because it gives us the usual tradition but also the characters doing it their way.
FOOTLOOSE (2011)
This one scene is all the sweeter because it occurs after the big fight and strife of the romance. It happens once there’s a settled sense of peace, and not only is the dance itself a good moment, but the pre father and daughter scene is special, too.

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 3: SENIOR YEAR
Don’t judge me. Had to include this one for nostalgia purposes.
THE KISSING BOOTH
This series has its ups and downs, and seems more hated than liked, but this one is sweet because even during the “healing” process, Noah still comes back to surprise Elle at prom. Things may not end in smiles, but again, the scene IS pretty. Find on Netflix
NEVER BEEN KISSED
In this scenario, a 20-something reporter gets the chance to relive her high school days (nothing happy about them) and prom. Turns out, this go-round doesn’t get better, but our heroine learns a valuable takeaway life lesson from it.
PROM
As the title would imply, this one is all about prom. It’s a Disney film that oddly, I quite enjoy a re-watch of once in a while. It’s just one of those “feel-good” movies that makes me smile.
SHE’S ALL THAT
This one is sweeter in the “after” prom moment when the two come together in her back yard for a slow dance.
THE SPECTACULAR NOW
This film is ALL KINDS OF ADULT (it has an R-rating), but the cute (less than one minute) dance scene puts Amy and Sutter together where she compares herself to not being able to dance like his ex. Lovingly he tells her that “you dance like Amy” and that’s what makes her who she is.
TO ALL THE BOYS: ALWAYS & FOREVER
I’ll be honest, I almost omit this one just because the OTP couple ends up in a bit of a tiff, but this doesn’t take away their excitement leading up to the dance and the fact that, it has pretty optics. Find on Netflix
