12 (MORE!) OF THE HAPPY HALF-HOUR TV SHOWS TO ENJOY, PART 2

Up until the recent years (as in one to three), I didn’t pay attention to half-hour comedies. I won’t say I didn’t see some, but then, sometimes our TV watching habits will change. This is true of mine just now. This is why we’re talking 12 happy half-hour TV shows, part 2.

LIST | THREE OF THE BEST JOANNA & BILLY ‘BURDEN OF TRUTH’ MOMENTS (OTP FAVORITES!)

In todays ‘part two’ contribution, we’re looking at happy half-hour shows, most of which also have a heavy dose of romance because let’s be real, I’m all about good rom-com vibes. The other parts of the show are all about good comedy, things to make you laugh. I’m going to make an effort to only share titles that did not appear on ‘part one,’ but to be honest, that might not happen. Sometimes we just love certain things too much not to re-share, right?

Please Note: all of these shows contain adult themes, and content; some have profanity and a homosexual character

Anyway, let’s have a look at the shows featured in today’s publication.

12 HAPPY HALF-HOUR TV SHOWS, PART 2

100 QUESTIONS

David Walton stars in this ensemble comedy that didn’t last long at it. It follows a group of friends through their (mostly) bad experiences with finding love. This show is TV-14

BEN & KATE

This show is equal parts fun and annoying. The brother (Ben) in this scenario is a little bit too much of a slacker for me to fully invest in his character, but then the adorableness off the daughter of the sister (Kate) helps to make this one a bit of a gem. The show is TV-PG/14 depending on the episode

BENT

Watched this one a while ago (like over a year) so I cannot remember its details but it’s kind of cute (only one six-episode season, same as many of these) about a woman who hires an unambitious contractor to re-model. David Walton also stars in this, yet another short-run TV show. This show is TV-14

CALL YOUR MOTHER

In quite the departure from her last TV show, Kyra Sedgewick (TNT’s The Closer) stars as an empty-nester who, worried about her kids, leaves Iowa to visit them in California. The show is TV-14 12 happy half-hour tv shows part 2

FAM

Nina Dobrev stars in this hilarious comedy about a woman looking to escape her sketchy past with her upper class boyfriend. Only they hit a snag when her half-sister, Shannon, appears on their doorstep and the young couple go from “carefree” to raising a teenager. This show is TV-14

HAPPY ENDINGS

This show is really pretty heart-warming and sweet. It’s a group of best friends as they navigate the ins and outs of love and friendship. It also happens to feature funny guy Damon Wayans Jr. and Zachary Knighton who now stars in Magnum P.I. This show is TV-14

HAPPY TOGETHER

This one also features Damon Wayans Jr. and is really, quite funny. It’s about a 30-something married couple who, quite unexpectedly, take in a 20-year-old rock star looking for a simpler life. It ends really sweetly, but also on the assumption of a second season (which it doesn’t get). This show is TV-14

LIFE IN PIECES

This one follows a family of mom, dad, and three children, all of whom are in various states of life with children, married or single. This show is TV-14

MARRY ME

From the creator of Happy Endings, this one is cute and funny (a couple together for years, finally decides to be engaged), it also feels “too much” like David Caspe’s previous effort (fun trivia, David is married to star Casey Wilson), and really, Happy Endings is better. This show is TV-14 12 happy half-hour tv shows part 2

PERFECT COUPLES

Watched this one on a whim. It’s not my favorite but has its cute moments. The plot follows three couples, all in various stages of their relationships. This show is TV-14

RAISING HOPE

Imperfect with some unusual humor, this one is pretty sweet (most of the time). It’s about a low income family whose 20-year-old son’s one night fling (with a serial killer) results in a baby. It’s definitely not a premise that seems good for humor, but it’s all about the funny and mostly, it works. This show is TV-14

TRIPHY WIFE

From everything I see, this show is one of those super popular ones that didn’t get its second season. I’d never seen it, but bought the entire set and watched it through. It’s funny (about a man marrying for a third time and the lives of his prior two wives) in a kind of quirky way and has a pretty dang good cast, too. This show is TV-14

BONUS! COUNTRY COMFORT

This is, without question, one of my most favorite TV discoveries this year! It has Katharine McPhee and Eddie Cibrian in a funny little comedy about a struggling musician who ends up being a nanny. This show is TV-PG -14, depending on the episode 12 happy half-hour tv shows part 2
