ABOUT A DISNEY ANNIVERSARY: THE FUN OF ‘PROM,’ 10 YEARS LATER

When it comes to Disney anniversaries, I’d guess their comedy Prom isn’t one most viewers care about. I’ve seen it a few times and while not revolutionary, it is one of those films that makes its viewer smile BIG. This is why today, as we approach the prom season, we’re celebrating the Disney Anniversary: Prom, 10 years later, just because.

LIST | 12 OF THE PRETTY MOVIE PROM SCENES

Prom follows a group of high schoolers, most of whom have nothing in common. Leading up the committee is the straight laced Nova, a girl without a boyfriend who determines she’ll make prom the memorable sendoff her class deserves. There’s the “meant to be” couple Mei and Justin who suddenly wonder, are they? Then there’s the nervous Lucas whose crush seems to be interested in another. Also coming into this group of teenagers is Jesse, the bad boy who finds he may find his loner philosophy isn’t what’s best. This is Prom.

Here are a few reasons why this is a fun watch.

ABOUT A DISNEY ANNIVESARY: ‘PROM,’ 10 YEARS LATER

1: CHARACTERS

Anytime I create a list, I feel as though characters always get their own bulletin point shout-out. Guess what this illustrates is that I like films where I feel something for or care about the characters. This is certainly true of this group.

2: FAMILIAR (HALLMARK) FACES

If you like Hallmark Channel, you’ll see some familiar faces in Jonathan Keltz (who is a prince-ly character player from the network) and Aimee Teagarden in this! Always fun to see stars in more of their “origin” acting days. disney anniversary prom 10 years

3: FRIENDSHIP

I like (most) all of the friendship themes in this film. It’s like paging through a kind scrapbook that remembers the memories of your teenage years. (Only it’s in a cheerful way, as the next point mentions.)

4: HAPPINESS

There’s just something about this movie that’s cheerful and joyful and fun to watch. It has this joy that radiates from it, and despite the fact that this is a “young” kind of romantic-comedy, it makes me happy. disney anniversary prom 10 years

5: PROM

Cannot NOT mention the scene and moment for which this film is named. The scene is pretty, and of course, it’s a cute full circle moment for the characters.

6: ROMANCE

There’s a really cute romance in this that reminds me of Bianca’s in 10 Things I Hate About You. Plus, just in general there’s some fun romance scenes and pairings, though not everyone gets the perfect happy end.
