‘AURORA TEAGARDEN MYSTERIES: HOW TO CON A CON’: THE ONE BEFORE I DO

June 12, 2021 No Comments

It’s taken me a while, but finally I’m catching up with one of Hallmark’s most popular crime solving maven’s. This time a cold case sets things in motion.

Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: How to Con a Con (2021) Hallmark Movies & Mysteries TV Film Review

As Aurora (Candace Cameron Bure) plans her wedding, her mother Aida (Marilu Henner) is busy with her real estate clients. Her newest clients are looking to sell their house and move to Maui. Trouble is, Aida discovers that there’s a loan on the house. This throws the owners for a surprise and eventually, one of them is murdered.

Naturally, this piques Aurora’s curiosity. Why was the homeowner murdered – and did he know more than he let on? Together with her bestie, Sally (Lexa Doig) and fiancé, Nick (Niall Matter), she sets out to solve another puzzling Real Murder mystery!

This year I did finally catch up on the three or so of these installments I hadn’t seen, with this being the latest. I wasn’t going to share this or any of the prior here because I don’t see them when they’re relevant. However given that the next film is (according to the promos!) THE movie with THE wedding, I thought it’d be fun just to share some thoughts on ‘How to Con a Con.’

Like anything in the franchise, the film is cute and fun. Minus the commercials, the story keeps everything rolling and doesn’t linger too long in any one place. There’s the usual personal thread running through the story and does provide for a couple of sweet moments. There’s more mystery than anything, but anytime we get to play catch up with this gang can be fun. Lynn is still Lynn; Arthur is still trying to placate everyone (in a mostly ok way); and of course there’s the eager to join-in-the-mysteries Philip.

Those who are fans of this franchise will, like usual, enjoy Candance Cameron Bure’s 15th film as the titular character. It’s got the fun con angle, too!

PS: the next Aurora Teagarden film ‘Til Death Do Us Part’ airs tomorrow night (the 13th) on Hallmark Channel!
