12 OF THE MEMORABLE & PRETTY MOVIE WEDDING SCENES
Historically, even if only in the movies, June is a kind of popular wedding month. It’s the month when many want to book their wedding and plan the day of their dreams. As it is June and I’m always looking for fun new things to “research,” I decided to look at some of the prettiest and memorable wedding scenes in movies. And I’m sure that we need to stress some here as I’ll likely miss many that would fit on this list.
LIST | 16 ROMANCE MOVIES ABOUT FALLING IN LOVE THROUGH LETTERS
12 OF THE MEMORABLE & PRETTY MOVIE WEDDING SCENES #Movies #MovieWeddings #WeddingsInMovies #WeddingScenes #Romance Share on XWhen it comes to romantic moments in film, I’ve always been more of a first (or any) dance kind of girl. However, I cannot underestimate the power of a good wedding scene. There’s some that immediately comes to mind (namely one I’ve never actually seen on film) and others I have to seek out with a bit more gusto. All this babbling out of the way, let’s jump into the good stuff and have a little look at the special “I do” moments we’re here to feature today.
SOME OF THE MEMORABLE WEDDING SCENES IN MOVIES
Beware, spoilers to follow
1: BELLA SWAN AND EDWARD CULLEN from BREAKING DAWN
This is the wedding I actually have not seen on film because I haven’t watched (or read) a single Twilight film. I’m actually kind of weirdly proud of this, but I will admit, the one thing I do vividly remember when these films were at their most popular, is how beautiful this wedding scene looks. That’s about the extent of my interest.
2: CINDERELLA AND THE PRINCE from CINDERELLA
I’m going to admit, I don’t love Cinderella’s wedding dress, however I love the general silhouette, and can’t not include this one. It’s one of those fairy tale moments that deserves placing.
3: ELLA AND THE PRINCE from ELLA ENCHANTED
I feel like, on this list, I’m adding some that I don’t LOVE the wedding scene (in terms of styling, etc.) but in the case of this film, I love how joyful it is. It’s just fun and silly, and I cannot help but appreciate that.
4: EMMA WOODHOUSE AND MR. KNIGHTLEY from EMMA (1996)
As an adaptation, this one has all kinds of modern flair and though the wedding isn’t filmed in full, I have to include this simply because it’s one of those sighs-of-relief-finally kind of moments for these two!
5: LORD JAMES WALDERHURST AND EMILY from THE MAKING OF A LADY
This is a wedding scene that’s not a favorite because of what it represents, but I love the dress and I love that the wedding is the beginning of something beautiful.
6: JANE AND KEVIN from 27 DRESSES
This wedding scene is quite pretty just because it’s all natural light and pretty beach scenery (and there’s Jane’s pretty hairstyle, too!). I love how everything evolves in this movie and that it ends how it does.
7: JIMMIE SHANNON AND ANNE ARDEN from THE BACHELOR
This scene is extremely unconventional and as a result, is really more for laughs. Still the mad dash, the hundreds of brides in white, the attempt to survive, it’s all fabulous, and there’s still romanticism and I think this is an underrated rom-com, so I had to include it.
8: LEO AND PAIGE from THE VOW
Again, don’t remember all of the specifics, but like another movie (down the page) with Rachel McAdams, I feel like this scene is just so full of joy and lovely and quirky.
9: MABEL AND LORD GORING from AN IDEAL HUSBAND
This entire romance thread is just THE cutest thing ever. Only follows suit that, while WAY too brief, their wedding would also be cute.
10: MAGGIE CARPENTER AND IKE from RUNAWAY BRIDE
This scene is just so perfect for the character; plus I like how it plays well with the scene prior and Maggie’s confessions.
11: RACHEL CHU AND NICK from CRAZY RICH ASIANS
Adding this title is a bit unconventional since the scene isn’t a wedding between Rachel and Nick. However, while the actual wedding is way too extra, the moment during the wedding between Nick and Rachel is SWOONY and sweet.
12: TIM LAKE AND MARY from ABOUT TIME
From Instagram, Kirsty reminded me of this wedding! It’s such a sweet and joyful affair, and definitely deserves a shout-out.
