CHANGING CONTENT DIRECTION & WHAT THIS MEANS FOR THE SPACE
Writing in this space is something I’ve done for ten years now. Like in life, through this, I’ve learned lessons, come to realize what I should and shouldn’t do and hopefully, become better for these lessons. Primarily, given the content here, my goal is always to have fun. I strive for that, I want that and I love the space to be able to talk about things, no matter if it’s just the latest fairy-tale adaptation. As I worked through re-formatting all of my HTML this past year, I did realize that I did actually used to write discussion articles. Something I’d forgotten. All of this got me thinking about changing content direction, and what that may look like.
DISCUSSION | SOCIETY SAYS APOLOGIZE WHEN IT’S WRONG. BUT LET’S NOT WHEN IT’S RIGHT.
CHANGING CONTENT DIRECTION & WHAT THIS MEANS FOR THE SPACE #CONTENTCREATOR #CONTENTCREATION #OPINIONS #DISCUSSION #UNPOPULAROPINIONS Share on XI’ve always had this idea and wish to write more discussion pieces. But each time I do, I tend to think I don’t know enough or I shouldn’t. In some ways, I still have these same thoughts, more so of any topic that’s outside the realm of being about books or the like. But one thing I do know about myself is this. I observe (a lot) and I think (a lot), so I don’t write something that is a fly-off-the-handle kind of reaction. I’m not saying that when I write something I might not be passionate about the subject, I’m just saying it’s not a knee-jerk reaction. Because of this as well as the common sense understanding that anything I write is opinion, something I’m entitled to, I have thought about that opinion.
So, in a quick, 1, 2 look at what this means, let’s look at the “change” and what won’t change.
WHAT WILL CHANGE
All of what I say above is why I have decided to start writing some opinion and discussion pieces here. I’m already published some. I have some other ideas in mind, some half written, others fully written. I like having this kind of “buffer,” if you will of ideas.
However, as I’m always curious about ideas and such, if you have any, please let me know. I’m open to new ideas of what to write about and always excited to hear from you about thoughts or ideas. Let me know if you have any.
WHAT THAT CHANGE WILL LOOK LIKE
As I already said, I’ve already published some things, more recently, that’s a good indicator of the kinds of things I mean when I say I’m going to write more discussion topics. Some of these include the negative impact of social media cancel culture, asking where kindness has gone, and most recently, the mindset of apologizing when you shouldn’t. Sometimes the discussions may just be
WHAT WON’T CHANGE
I’m still here to have FUN! This means, I’m still going to curate fangirl-y lists. I’m still going write book and film reviews. I’m still going to talk about favorite TV or movie ships. I’m still going to talk about Hallmark. I’m still going to write about favorite romances. Because this is who I am.
I love fangirl things, but sometimes I also want the chance to talk about worrisome things I see in social media and culture.
I’m not sure how this will look. Or that it’ll be a welcome once-in-a-while change in the publication roster. None of this is among the list of things I know. It may tank my views, which already fluctuate. It may inspire a reader now to be unkind and leave argumentative comments. I don’t know. But I do know, this is my space and if I have opinions on something, I have a right to share them.
What are your thoughts on discussion topics? Do you right them? Do you like to write them? Is it interesting to read others perspectives? What’s your favorite kind of content to read? Comment all of your thoughts down below.

Love this! Looking forward to reading your future discussion posts. :)
Thanks, Melanie – and as always, glad to chat with you!!
I love to read discussion posts. It’s nice to hear someone’s opinion on other topics. I’d love to write more, but it’s so hard to think of topics!
Ditto. I agree, Angela. Sometimes I like to write a bunch (even if they’re HORRIBLE) and then work on them through the weeks until they’re at least “decent” enough to publish. :D
