FALL 2021 FASHION TRENDS: SOME OF THE FUN & AWKWARD LOOKS

September 8, 2021 No Comments

When it comes to fashion, I don’t know much meaning I don’t research what’s hot and what’s not. I just browse, see things I like and see if they work for me. But sometimes it is fun to take a look at what “experts” say is the “it” accessory and see styles that trend. This year, I did just that, and am taking a peek at the fall 2021 fashion trends. As a result, I’m inviting you to join me in taking a look-see.

So, I’ll be real, I’m not really liking the “must wear” trends this season. They’re way too 70s and even, in some sense the 90s (which maybe the 90s was already a reincarnation of the 70s?) for my tastes. I wear some cropped cuts, but I wear them oversized, so this cropped look isn’t my thing and can we talk about these wide-leg (or bell bottom?) jeans!? Guys, mom jeans are one thing, but these wide leg pants? Nope. I just cannot. I bought a pair of wide-leg black denim and had to return them. There’s just TOO MUCH extra fabric everywhere and in my opinion, it looks awful. But I digress. Let’s look at some of the trends and I’ll chat about whether or not I like them.

FALL 2021 FASHION TRENDS

1: ALL THE COLOR

According to Cosmopolitan (which I don’t like or take as gospel, so…), color is a big trend. They feature “lilac” and “lime green” as a new favorite color and the color you’ll see everywhere, respectively. Apparently “saturated hues,” according to WhoWhatWear is in whereas “standard grey” is outdated.

2: DENIM (WITH AN ACID WASH)

Not really into this acid wash trend, unless it’s subtle. I do wear distressed and almost acid looking. But another thing I am really not into is the wide leg “straight” jeans like a pair such as this from Target. They look terrible on me and fit me in a way that just appears as though there’s so much more fabric than is needed.

3: LEATHER JACKETS

WhoWhatWear (a brand at Target) seems to celebrate leather jackets while Cosmopolitan does as well, but they like cropped (top) leather and also suggest leather with color is going to be a thing.

4: RELAXED TROUSERS

Still contemplating this trend. I don’t think I love it at first impression, but it could be something that, possibly, grows on me.

5: SWEATER VESTS (YES THEY SAY IT’S A THING)

I just cannot get behind this fashion trend. I have seen one or two in Target’s new finds for women’s clothing, but whoa. Nope. It’s just not for me. But that’s what Cosmopolitan says.

FALL ENSEMBLES I WOULD ACTUALLY WEAR

Lately, I feel like I’m more about casual than “high fashion.” Meaning where I didn’t used to, now I’m more about wearing a t-shirt (or a lightweight crewneck, both from Conviction Co.) and a pair of jeans. As an example, something I would wear is something like this. If you’re into it, throw on a hat to kind of “elevate” the look.

As we’re heading into fall, I will also wear things like this (above) which is sweaters, jeans and a cute boot. I think that’s kind of the universal autumn uniform. Same can be said about the “shacket” (or shirt jacket), I’m quite liking this trend too! I just ordered this pretty pink (purple) one from Target. I also like, for a transition look, the oversized blazer with shorts. Or leggings if that’s more your thing.

I’ve also been wearing dresses a tiny bit more than normal. I think the shorter length is better for casual looks and can easily be dressed “down” with tennis shoes, a baseball hat (if you’re into that) and in the autumn time, layering with a jean jacket. There’s ways to, of course, make it versatile and dress it “up” too! I have this A New Day dress and am looking at this one, do we like it or no? I’m also kind of curious about a skirt like this (above) that I see on the company Love Olive Co. I like the green color, and how it’s styled with a short-sleeve, cream turtleneck.

What about you! Which fall 2021 trends are you liking or hating? Have you seen anything that you love or are you a don’t care kind of girl? Comment all of your thoughts down below.
