POP CULTURE NEWS: EDITION TEN (GRAMMY GAFFE? AND HOW TO VISIT SCOTLAND!)

Another week and ten editions in, and here we are, it’s Friday. This is something I say week after week, but quite literally, this week, there’s nothing to talk about. So instead, more likely than not, I’ll share some things I’ve already shared in other posts and go from there with our Pop Culture News Edition Ten post. Why? Well, because I’m terrible and don’t have something else to publish – or at least nothing that’s ready to go at this last-minute notice. Also, please tell me I’m not the only one with this issue?

We have some music things, Christmas movie things and maybe something else. I don’t know. I’m still in the gathering phases of this, and so, perhaps I will find something else. *shrugs* Time will tell. Either way, let’s jump right in, shall we?

POP CULTURE NEWS EDITION TEN

1: GRAMMY GAFFE?

So, according to Today’s Pop Culture news, a last minute move by the Grammy’s opened the door for artists like Taylor Swift and Kayne West to be included in the album of the year category. The move changed the nominee cap from eight to ten, which allowed more artists to receive the award. Supposedly it was in response to the “overwhelming” amount of nominations received, and something that’s been in the works or talked of for years now.

2: THANKSGIVING SHENANAGINS

This isn’t pop culture news, but earlier this week, I did share a list of TV episodes that follow families during the Thanksgiving holiday. We’re past Thanksgiving now, yes, but I still thought I’d add it here just in case you want to linger with Thanksgiving through the “big” holiday shopping weekend. Plus, the ‘pop culture’ element that does sort of apply is that it features things like Gilmore Girls and New Girl, both of which feel like a kind of pop culture icon. Sort of.

3: VISIT SCOTLAND

Netflix dropped one of its Christmas originals this week, which is A Castle for Christmas. One of the more hyped new movies, even last year, this one has Brooke Shields, but also The Princess Bride’s Cary Elwes. The plot follows a novelist looking to escape some professional scandal. She heads to Scotland where she falls in love with a castle, but of course, with it also comes a “grumpy” duke.

BONUS (IF YOU CARE): ‘THIS IS US’

I’ve never been a This is Us fan but do know there are legions of fans out there for This is Us. The show released its trailer for the final season this week, and if you want to check it out, headlines say, it’s a “tearjerker.”

PS: THE LONGER TRAILER FOR DOWNTON ABBEY: A NEW ERA IS ALSO HERE! What do we think about it? Good or bad? Let’s chat!

Your turn! What’s your take on these stories? Do you think the Grammy’s explanation is accurate or are they making room for specific artists? Who do you think will win – or are you like me, and don’t care about the Grammy’s? Comment all of your comments below!

Thank you for visiting! Please, do come back soon.
