We have more TV renewals, new TV shows incoming and an update on the “big” story from last week. Honestly this one annoys me and I’m over it (for a few reasons) but since we wrote about it last week, I’m updating with probably the last of it unless something big happens in the next week. Either way, we’re here, we’re keyboard ready and we’re on the search for the stories we can share. Let’s dive in.

POP CULTURE NEWS EIGHTY-TWO

Were you a Twilight fan? If so, you may like to know there are talks about it becoming a TV show. I’ve never seen any of the movies, so it means nothing to me, but I suspect there’s viewers interested. There is no network names yet, but Lionsgate will produce. I will say, I have a feeling it’ll lack the nostalgia the movies have for many. Additionally, HBO Max is looking into developing a Harry Potter show as well.

Speaking of J.K. Rowling, she continues to be prosecuted (on social media) for her views on being a woman as a woman. House in Habit, whom I don’t follow but I do watch her Instagram stories here and there, was this week defending her and talking about how we’re now unable to have civil discourse (!!). We can no longer separate different religions or politics and agree with someone if they’re making an argument with weight and common sense. She used her November Instagram post “don’t let the media decide your villains” to drive the point home.

Will Trent earns an ABC season two pickup, and The Good Doctor will return for its seventh year come fall 2023. Station 19 has a seventh season incoming, but with a new showrunner.

Speaking of TV shows, networks like ABC and CBS have “spoiled” several of their season finales. If that’s your thing, get your search game on. They’re out there!

More Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn breakup drama incoming. This time when an celebrity posted a photo of Joe in a carousel of Instagram photos. From what I read, Taylor Swift “fans” (who knows if they are) “attacked” her in comments with innuendo and remarks that Alwyn cheated. Honestly, that rumor driven by keyboard warriors is terrible. Even if it is true (and maybe it is), the photo she shared is ZERO proof. The lineup also features other people, including men. This same logic then has to apply to the other party. In this case, Swift who posts photos all the time with other people and you don’t see (or I haven’t) people accusing her of cheating. Additionally, Joe shares something in common with this person which is work on a film project. So, yeah there’s that. PLUS, if Swift is allowed a life outside a relationship, so is Alwyn. Oh, yeah and the Internet decided to have FREAK OUT because some of Swift’s friends unfollowed him and she’s partying with all her girl friends again. It’s a little exhausting and makes me think fans don’t really listen to Swift’s lyrics. Either that or Swift deploys a purposeful passive-aggressive persona.

BuzzFeed News is, according to multiple outlets, shutting down. According to the memo released from the CEO, they can “no longer afford to fund” the outlet which will also come with layoffs.

Netflix and Love is Blind had a whole snafu this week. I don’t follow it. And I honestly don’t care. But it was a big deal complete with a social media outcry because the stream didn’t stream when it should have.

Candace Cameron Bure has booked her 2023 Great American Family Christmas flick (and is filming already according to her Instagram story!). She’ll play a doctor in the Army reserves in a role that Bure says “We are proud to tell a story that honors our U.S. veterans this Christmas season. From WW2 to present day veterans, we shine the spotlight on their heroic work as well as aftercare needs. We have a talented cast and crew and are thrilled to bring it to our Great American Family audience.”
