Oh, dear and oh my! The 2021 Christmas movie season is HERE. With it comes a bevy of new premieres from various networks, just one of these is The Santa Stakeout, a slightly different title from Hallmark.
The Santa Stakeout (2021) Hallmark TV Film Review
Moving to a new town to try and make it without the help or name recognition that is her father is important for detective Tanya Morris(Tamera Howry-Housley) wants. A rookie on the new force she’s working for, she finds herself in a bit over her head when it comes to trying to fit in, which is something her boss doesn’t care about. When she and fellow detective Ryan Anderson (Paul Campbell) discover a possible thief planning a new heist, he pairs them up. What they don’t expect is while having the suspect under surveillance, they have to pretend to be newlyweds!

SHARING THE FIRST #CHRISTMASMOVIE REVIEW OF 2021 –> ‘THE SANTA STAKEOUT’: A DIFFERENT BUT STILL SAME CHRISTMAS MOVIE #HALLMARKIES #COUNTDOWNTOCHRISTMAS #CHRISTMASMOVIES #THESANTASTAKEOUT Share on XDespite the fact that this plot is really, quite different than most Hallmark films, it’s also cute. There are still all of the warm and cozy activities each Hallmark film has with a bit of that “buddy cop” comedy. What I like about how those familiar activity scenes play out, is that they’re not of the normal variety. The cooking baking scene doesn’t feature a flour fight or flour on the nose, for example. It’s still here, but not in the usual way, and I appreciate this.
Tamera is, I think, another fan favorite from Hallmark, and she’s always been good in anything I’ve seen her in. Paul is from one of the favorites last year, Christmas by Starlight, along with a handful of other titles from the network as well. While this one isn’t perfect and I certainly cannot count it as a favorite, it has charms; and based on what I already made note of above, there is a lot to appreciate about this one.
Like the normal end of any review I share from a title like this, The Santa Stakeout is sweet. It’s funny and has a good and familiar cast, all which will make a cozy night in a little more merry.
