POP CULTURE NEWS EDITION 27: FAVORITE TV RENEWALS AND FORMER CAST MATES REUNITE
It’s another week gone by, and on this fine Friday, we’re diving into another pop culture news edition twenty-seven with more little pop culture stories. Let’s see what dominated some of the news cycle in the past week.
DISCUSSION | IS ENTERTAINMENT TRENDING TOWARDS A NEW WAY TO ROMANCE?
This go round, there’s renewals for a favorite franchise, a rom-com possibility and well, we’ll just see what else we can find. Let’s keep this short and sweet and just dive in.
POP CULTURE NEWS EDITION TWENTY-SEVEN
1: A POSSIBLE NEW ROMANTIC-COMEDY
The Wattapad sensation The QB Bad Boy and Me is getting an adaptation starring social media persona Noah Beck. He will make his acting debut in the production and act as a producer too. According to the article the story follow a girl named Dallas whose whole world is about dance and snagging the opportunity to give a scholarship. Everything changes with a star quarterback catches her eye. The head of studio (for one of the production studios) describes the film as a “playful and sweet YA comedy.”
We’ll see if it is, but I’m curious, do you know of any upcoming romances that could be good?
POP CULTURE NEWS EDITION 27: FAVORITE TV RENEWALS AND FORMER CAST MATES REUNITE #CHESSIES #HALLMARKIES #CBS #NCIS #ROMCOM #NEWMOVIES Share on X2: CBS’ MOST POPULAR TRIO RETURNS
CBS renewed its three popular shows in NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: Hawaii. The network will give each their 20th, 14th and 2nd seasons respectively. I haven’t watched NCIS since the end of 2020 or start of 2021 (which for me you KNOW is a BIG deal) and have only seen maybe two episodes of NCIS: LA from this current season. Will you be watching and are you disappointed in any of the direction the once amazing franchise has taken?
Other favorite CBS shows like Blue Bloods or Magnum P.I. have not yet gotten their renewal.
3: ONE FINAL SUMMER
For one final season, Hallmark renewed Chesapeake Shores for its sixth season and will likely air it during its summer programming. The show seems to have Robert Buckley (based on Instagram) returning along with the major cast like Meghan Ory, Treat Williams, Emilie Ullerup, Brendan Penny, Andrew Francis, and many others to be back for this final season.
What is your hope to see in this final season? I’d love to see Jesse Metcalfe return (though I know he won’t) and I also weirdly admire Hallmark ending this IF it’s going to mean losing cast and the like. It’s without question my favorite Hallmark show so I’m sad, but also I think Hallmark could have done this for When Calls the Heart WAY back with Lissing left and been WAY better off. Plus given Hallmark’s frequent re-use of talent, there is always the hope of a TV movie special to play catch up with everyone.
4: REIMAGINING A CULT CLASSIC
Rumor has it Netflix is looking to reimagine the cult classic Spy Kids. The OG movies starred Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara, the first of which released 20+ years ago. Robert Rodriquez, the director and creator of the franchise, is set to direct this next installment in the now closed deal. SO far the rumors report that this will introduce viewers to “a new family of spies.” Nonetheless, what do you think this story will do, and do you think any fan favorites will appear in this new version?
5: THE REUNION WE’RE HERE FOR
As if seeing them together in multiple MCU movies and two previous film projects to that weren’t enough, Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans will reunite in a film called Project Artemis. The plot is, according to articles, still a secret, but Johansson is set to produce and Evans did tweet the story suggesting confirmation that they will co-star in this new project.
FINAL THINGS
- CW has acquired the Canadian show Family Law though they have as yet to announce when it will air. The show features Jewel Staite and Victor Garber in a plot about a recovering alcoholic who much work at her father’s law firm. Remind you of anything? To me it sounds similar to the short-lived Bluff City Law. Could be a fun substitute if you loved that show.
- Also more fuss about the sequel for the Top Gun trailer was made this week (why I don’t know since it’s been out a while?). That said I’ve NEVER seen the first film with Tom Cruise, is this even safe to say? Question is, do I see it? Let me know.
- Bruce Willis’ family made the announcement that he is “stepping away” from acting in the wake of an aphasia diagnosis. The disease is one that affects a person’s cognitive abilities.
- If you’re a fan of the ABC dramas Good Doctor and The Rookie, both did receive a renewal for another season coming fall 2022.
Your turn! Which stories did you see during the week? Did any of them stand out? Did any annoy you? Let’s hear all the things and thoughts. Comment away below.
Thank you for visiting! Please, do come back soon.
Oscars fashion wasn’t too good
I’d agree. Just not seeing anything that’s really pretty, unique or eye-catching. When the guys look better, that’s the sign of bad fashion. ;D
