SUMMER 2022 TBR: SOME OF THE GOOD BOOKS I’D LIKE TO READ

by

Here. We. Are. How we’re in the height of summer, I’ll never know. Honestly… I’ll just be over here freaking out that it’s time to share our annual and seasonal summer 2022 TBR books. More specifically to my case, it’s a list of books I romanticize reading over the summer, but as is the usual rule, we all know I actually won’t.

Like previous “rules” of these book lists, this one is all about using books on my shelf. If I do break that self imposed rule, I’ll try to ensure it’s because the book is a preorder and nothing more. Because those my bookish rules. No matter what, it’s still fun to put together this kind of list and imagine what I might read if I were a better reader! Since I, however, am not, it’s time to look at the BOOKS – because let’s be real, that’s what we’re all here for.

SUMMER 2022 TBR BOOKS

1: [ANYTHING] JENNIFER L. BARNES

I’ve been curious about Jennifer’s books for a while now and in fact own Little White Lies and The Inheritance Games. Both seem like they could be fun summer-time reads with some lighter suspense. Goodreads

2: ALONG FOR THE RIDE, SARAH DESSEN

Trying to decide if I want to just chuck any romantic notion I have of reading this novel (pre movie) or just watch the adaptation and likely never read this. I’m going to try to accomplish the former, but time will tell. Goodreads

3: WE’LL ALWAYS HAVE SUMMER, JENNY HAN

I read books one and two, though honestly, I didn’t remember this until I went back in my wrap up archives to find this. So, needless to say, I should finish the series and read book three ending the chronicles of Belly and the love triangle with brothers Conrad and Jeremiah. Hopefully. Goodreads

4: THE DEADLY SHALLOWS, DANI PETTREY (JULY)

This novel would have, presumably released in 2021, only it received a ’22 date and I couldn’t be more curious! I so enjoy Pettrey’s novels and rounding out her Coastal Guardians series is this third novel which I am sure Is great. Goodreads

5: AFTER SHE FALLS, CARMEN SCHOBER

Started this one SO long ago, and I was really enjoying it before my full on lull with reading (and other things) hit. So now I’m like, do I just finish the book and later go back for a full re-read? Or start anew? Follows a battered woman who realizes her worth and takes back her life by walking away from all that is bad in her life. Goodreads

6: A SECRET PRINCESS, MARGARET STOHL + MELISSA DE LA CRUZ

YOU GUYS!! You all know I adored Jo & Laurie so I’m super curious to read this follow up novel from the same duo. This one is said to be a mix of A Little Princess and The Secret Garden. Not a story I’m quite as enthralled by but nonetheless, I’m going to read it! Goodreads

7: TURN TO ME, BECKY WADE

I’m really so embarrassed I haven’t read this one yet. But I one-hundred percent plan to. Just have to sit down and dig into the book, and once I do I’m sure that will help in my reading of this one as it never takes much to draw me into a Becky Wade novel. Goodreads

8: PLACES WE’VE NEVER BEEN, KASIE WEST

Love her novels and as we likely have established, she’s one of my most favorite comfort kind of reads. Hoping this, her 2022 release, keeps the streak going. Goodreads

Handing it off to you now… tell me, do you plan to or have you read any of these? Would you read any of these? Tell me all the things – let’s get some of that bookish chatter flowing in the comments section!

As usual… BIG thanks and appreciation for making time to visit! I know I’m not the best at prompt replies and visiting your space in a reasonable time frame, but I see your comments and do make every good effort to a: reply and b: return the visit favor. Thanks for being here!

    1. We love a good summer-y read and with all the humidity around here lately, it feels like a full on summer. :) Thanks for visiting, Mareli.

    1. Becky’s books are always fabulous, Rachel. I love reading her books and hope “A Secret Princess” is a good read. :) Thanks for visiting.

  1. I’ve read Jennifer Barnes’ Raised by Wolves series (assuming this is the same author!) and I really loved it. Very well written, even though YA is not my preferred genre. Hope you try out her work!

    1. I read YA when I just want something fun and mostly easy reading. But I don’t think I read it as much as I used to. Still… I have some authors in the genre that make me smile, so I stick with them. :) Thanks for visiting, Lex.
