SOME OF THE SELF PUBLISHED NOVELS I READ AND ENJOYED plus SOME I WANT TO READ

Similarly to my reading of western-esque and cowboy fiction (think Lori Copeland stylings), I also had a phase of reading quite a few independent or self published novels. I always love having a chance to spotlight books that don’t come with loads of promotion and a larger publisher. This is why we’re looking at some of the self published novels I’ve read (and ones I’d like to).

Today s the opportunity to feature some of those books that maybe sometimes slip under the radar but are still worth the time they take to read. Let’s meet the candidates on today’s book list.

SELF PUBLISHED NOVELS I’VE READ AND WANT TO READ

THE BRIDGE, LISA TAWN BERGREN (SELF PUBLISHED)

This one was first published by a publishing house and was re-published by the author. Despite its bittersweet plot, I do want to read this one. Goodreads

ROOM AT THE TOP, KRISTEN BILLERBECK (SELF PUBLISHED)

I’ve read something by Billerbeck, but it’s bene a long time. This one I’ve have on my shelf for a while. Now I just need to read it. Goodreads

TO GET TO YOU, JOANNE BISCHOF (SELF PUBLISHED)

Another one I read a long time ago but remember finding it a good read. It’s from the perspective of the male lead which is different but it’s still a solid read. Goodreads

OVER EASY, PAMELA FORD (SELF PUBLISHED)

I read about this one a while back or found it from another book list. Either way, it did sound cute. Goodreads

UNTIL I KNEW MYSELF, TAMMY L. GRAY (SELF PUBLISHED)

Another one I did read! It’s been a minute but Tammy tends to write solid and emotional novels. Goodreads

KATIE PARKER PRODUCTIONS, JENNY B. JONES (SELF PUBLISHED)

Jenny always writes charming and cute stories. Despite these novels being out for years and having first been published by a publishing house, they’re now published by the author, and those are the copies I own. Goodreads

IT HAPPENED AT CHRISTMAS, CHRISTIN KRUMM (SELF PUBLISHED)

A Christmas novel, yes, but this one is one of my favorites and I really don’t think it gets enough attention. Goodreads

SCOTSMAN IN THE STACKS, ALANA OXFORD (INDIE)

From what I can tell this one is an Independent publishing house. Still, the idea sounds cute, following a love story. Goodreads

AS EASY AS RIDING A BIKE, BELL RENSHAW (SELF PUBLISHED)

Bell’s novels are insanely sweet. I enjoy all of her novels, including the two Christmas novels I’ve read from her. Goodreads

ALL THIS TIME, MELISSA TAGG (SELF PUBLISHED)

Most of the novels I’ve read by Melissa, but All This Time is one she published along with anything she’s currently publishing right now. Goodreads

TAKE A CHANCE ON ME, BECKY WADE (SELF PUBLISHED)

The launch of Becky’s Bradford Sister series, this novella is quite charming though the full length novels in this series are traditionally published. Goodreads

MY PHONY VALENTINE, COURTNEY WALSH (SELF PUBLISHED)

A recent release from Courtney, this sounds like an ideal greeting card novel with the promise of more stories to come in the series. Goodreads

MONTANA FIRE SERIES, SUSAN MAY WARREN (SELF PUBLISHED)

Despite liking everything I’ve read by Susan, I’d like to read this trilogy. They sound like great reads. Goodreads

  1. I’ve only read two on your list, and a couple others have been on my TBR for a long time now (Until I Knew Myself, All This Time, To Get to You). However, the top indie books on my list that I want to read are That Fine Line by Cindy Steel, It Will Be Forever by Jennifer Rodewald, Her Stand-In Cowboy by Crystal Walton, and The Nabob’s Daughter by Jess Heileman. Picking out those few indies made me realize how many are on my TBR. Hopefully, I read a sizeable amount this year.

    1. SO many are loving Cindy’s books now. I see them featured on Instagram and other places and I’m really curious about reading them. I’m always all for discovering some great new reads, so I’m hoping I can read some you mention at some point AND I hope you enjoy those on your TBR stack. :)

  2. I *loved* My Phony Valentine and the Montana Fire series (book 3 is my fave and I re-read it regularly!)

I have Joanne Bischof, Becky Wade, and Melissa Tagg’s books on my TBR.

    1. FUN! Hope you enjoy The Lady and the Lionheart. Let me know what you think when you do. It’s been a long time, but when I read it, I did love the book. :)

  3. I’ve only read It Happened at Christmas, but it was just ok for me. I think I’d read another book that was similar, so it was probably wrong book, wrong time for me. I have read another book by Walsh, her recent Christmas one, and I adored that one!

    1. Totally understand the wrong book, wrong time mentality, Dedra. Some books just aren’t great, but oftentimes I assume it’s a “me” thing especially if the book has lots of praise. :) Glad to know you enjoyed Walsh’s Christmas book. That’s another one I need to read!
