‘JOLLY GOOD CHRISTMAS’: A MOSTLY CUTE LONDON HALLMARK MOVIE

Featuring familiar faces and a bustling city setting, Jolly Good Christmas will probably appeal to many Christmas movie fans.

Jolly Good Christmas (2022) Hallmark TV Film Review

Living in London is providing David (Will Kemp) a good life. His profession is architect and it’s this that brings him to the bustling city across the pond. It’s also the change that brought Charlotte into his life. Tied into that is that she’s the daughter of his boss. As he prepares to spend their first Christmas together, including meeting Charlotte’s extended family, David is frazzled. Not just by this, but also a high profile meeting that could decide his future with his new firm. Add to this pressure to purchase Charlotte that just right gift.

Using her unique ability to find the perfect gift for people, Anji (Reshma Shetty) has built a small business as a personal shopper. When she serendipitously meets David, through a series of events, she ends up finding a gift she doesn’t expect.

From Hallmark films with a royal trope, Will Kemp is actually British but puts on an American accent in his role as David. It’s a little off putting but doesn’t bother me. Reshma Shetty is a new face for Hallmark however she is from the former TV show Royal Pains. Because of this, she’s familiar to me, and someone I quite like. She plays a organized and fabulous character in that USA Network show so seeing her in Jolly Good Christmas is fun though she plays a similar role.

Beyond the cast, I don’t love this one. It’s cute in principle but is kind of a miss in all regards. The London setting is fun and there’s that bustling attitude that keeps things moving. The majority of the film takes place over the course of one day which is never my favorite so this could play into why I don’t adore this but either way, I did want to like this better. Regardless of my quibbles, Jolly Good Christmas still has the seasonal feels many viewers want.

Content: aside from a side character who is in a same-sex relationship, this is old school Hallmark TV-G rating. Nothing too serious and nothing political.
